Kathy could still remember the night she had to leave her home in Hungary. It was the beginning of World War（战争）II and her family had to leave their country as soon as possible. She quickly filled（充满）a bag with a few pieces of clothing, her diary, and her treasure（珍宝）—a beautiful silk scarf. 

Kathy and her best friend, Monica, had asked their parents to buy them matching scarves. They each would wear the scarves as a symbol（象征）of their friendship. Kathy had no idea that she was going to America that night and would not be returning. 

Kathy kept that special silk scarf for many years. One day she decided to give it to her granddaughter, Eliza, to wear to her first job interview（面试）for good luck. And with the scarf, Eliza kissed her grandmother and left for the interview. 

That afternoon Eliza left the interview, feeling sure that she had got the job. So she decided to celebrate by going to a restaurant. As she was sitting at her table, she felt someone looking at her. Sitting next to her was an old woman, who could not take her eyes away from her. 

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" Eliza asked. 

"I`m sorry, dear, but you make me think of someone I once knew," the old woman replied. "My best friend looked like you and used to wear a scarf just like the one you're wearing around your neck. Eliza listened carefully, with her eyes and mouth wide open. She had heard stories of her grandmother's best friend and knew the meaning of the scarf. 

"My name's Monica, dear. I lived in Hungary as a child, but my family had to leave when I was fourteen years old. I've been living here in California from then on." said the old woman. 

Eliza could not believe her ears…

"What's wrong, Suzie?" asked Dad. "Why are you looking so unhappy?"

"It is just that Amine's family has moved to Sydney," cried Suzie. "She will go to a new school there, make new friends, lead a new life and… and{#blank#}1{#/blank#} me." Suzie couldn't speak any more with tears in her eyes.

Dad held Suzie's small hand in his large one and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} patted（拍）her on the head.

"It's OK, Suzie," he said. "I am sure you will find another friend. There are so many other children at school, aren't there?"

"But… but it is not the same! Amine is my special friend— the best friend I have ever had. I don't want to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} without her."

"Now, dear, it is really sad to see Amine going away. But you have to move on with your {#blank#}4{#/blank#} life. Listen to me, go to school and get yourself some new friends. Cheer up!"

Suzie nodded her head and began reading her storybook.

This morning I got an email from Roy. It seems that my boy really enjoys his new life at Harvard University. The 1  made me think of the first day when we moved into this house. 

Little Roy ran around the new house with great excitement and 2  to move his own things into the house, such as his toys, books and clothes. 3  his little hand knocked over a bottle of paint on the shelves. The paint 4  the tidy floor and the white wall a terrible mess. "Oh, my tidy floor and wall!"My wife rushed in angrily. I looked at my son and his small face was filled with 5 . 

I 6  and held his hand, "Take it easy, Roy. Now let's do something to make it look 7 . "I took out a 8 . "You see, Dad is a magician. I can 9  it into a big tree. "

My wife soon helped paint some butterflies and flowers on the wall. We spent the whole morning 10  and laughing. The wall became a beautiful forest 11  plants, birds and small animals. A blue sky and white clouds were also painted by Roy. On that day, everybody in the house knew something 12  happened. 

The night before Roy left for Harvard, he asked me if I still remembered the day when 13  had knocked over the paint. " Since then I've 14  worried about making mistakes, "he continued. "I believe I can always 15  ways to solve the problems. "

We're still in Ireland. We arrived in Dublin four days ago. It was 1 ! My sister and I liked it a lot. Then yesterday, after lunch, Dad turned round to us and said, "We've got a 2 for you. Tonight our hotel is a castle (城堡)!" How 3 is that!

At the end of the journey, we stopped outside a real castle. A nice lady welcomed us and started to show us around 4 it was really big. What an amazing (惊人的) place! Can you believe that we walked up fifty stone steps to get to the living room?

The castle is over 600 years old, but it had 5 we needed. There was a bedroom for our parents and we each had a bedroom, too. But I didn't sleep very well last night. I felt so excited to be in a real castle! I 6 what life was like here in the past.

This morning we had breakfast and then we 7 to the top of the castle. We were amazed at the beautiful countryside around us. Then it started to rain and there was a fantastic rainbow — I 8 rainbows!

The place was so cool that we didn't want to 9 . But this afternoon, Mom and Dad planned to go to Limerick, so we're packing our bags again! Can it be as 10 as a castle? Let's see.
