Grandma Lee is 70 years old. She lives alone, She spends lots of time on shopping. She thinks it is really interesting. Every morning, she gets up early and then goes to the market to buy some vegetables and fruit. To save money, she always compares the prices of the same vegetable and fruit. She never feels tired of it. And in the afternoon, she goes to the supermarket, because there is usually a sale on at that time. 

Grandma Lee doesn't carry any cash any more. She only takes her mobile phone. Now she can even shop online. She can choose all kinds of things on the Internet and she can get them at home. It's so convenient! 

A farmer was working when he heard a loud sound. He left his work at once and ran towards it. When the farmer reached there, he found a little boy in a bog (沼泽) crying out of fear. The farmer tried hard and successfully got the child out. 

The next day, a well-dressed man came to the farmer's house. He told the farmer that he was the father of the boy saved by him yesterday. He wanted to give him a large amount of money in return, but the farmer refused to accept money for saving the child. At that moment, a little boy came to the door. The rich man asked, "Is this child your son?" The farmer proudly replied, "Yes, he is my son." Then, the rich man offered to help his child in his studies, saying, "I will provide him with the same education as I give my own son. If he is anything like his father, he will grow to be a noble man." The farmer agreed, and his son was educated in the best schools until he finished his studies at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School.

Years passed, and the rich man fell seriously ill. A doctor saved his life. This doctor was Alexander Fleming. This rich man is Lord Randolph Churchill and his son saved by the farmer is Sir Winston Churchill (丘吉尔), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II.

One year, there was a great famine(饥荒) in the Stage of Qi. Many people were 1 of food. There was a 2 man. His named was Qian Ao. He set up a stall(摊位) by the roadside with lots of food. He waited for hungry people to come and 3 the food to them.

After a short time, a hungry man walked over. He was in 4 clothes and shoes. He lowered(低下) his head. He was so 5 that he couldn't stand up well.

When Qian Ao saw this, he held 6 in his left hand and tea in his right, shouting "Hey! Come and 7 something."

The man raised his 8 suddenly, opening his eyes wide and said angrily, "You are not the only one who shouts at me. I'm really hungry. But I don't want to get food from anyone who shouts at 9 proudly!"

When Qian Ao heard this, he quickly said "10 " to the man. But finally the man died because he wouldn't like to take the food.

"It's hard to say this, but I'll have to leave school in a few weeks' time, " said Mr. Thomas, standing at the front of the classroom. 

It was early on Monday morning and Mr. Thomas' students were surprised at the news. All of them loved Mr. Thomas very much and they never thought that he might leave. However, Mr. Thomas reached the age when he was going to retire. After hearing the news, the class kept gloomy for the next few days until the class monitor gave them a small scolding (训斥). 

"We should not be like this, "she said. "Instead, we should study hard to thank Mr. Thomas for being so good to us. " The class agreed, and they thought of an idea of having a farewell (送别) party for Mr. Thomas to surprise him. 

On Mr. Thomas' last day at school, everybody brought a different kind of delicious finger food to class and put it in the middle of the classroom. They covered the blackboard with farewell messages. When Mr. Thomas showed up, all the students said "Goodbye, dear teacher!" together and promised Mr. Thomas that they would do their best in schoolwork in the future. 

Mr. Thomas was really surprised. And he was really touched. The class, in turn, was glad that they did the right thing. After all, it was the simplest way to show thanks to their favorite teacher.
