Dear diary,

Mom and Dad found a new flat(公寓) today. Now that we are all teenagers, our flat is too small. Sally and I share a room, and Eric's room is really small. Our living room is also quite small and it's a little dark. The windows are too small and there is no balcony(阳台). Our bathroom is big, but it's really old. So my parents decided to find a new flat for us.

The new flat is much bigger. It has four bedrooms, so Sally and I can have our own rooms. Eric's room is large and it has a balcony. He's so happy. Mom and dad's room also has a balcony. There are two bathrooms that are both beautiful and modern. And the living room is excellent . It has two big windows, so it is nice and light. It's in Eastgardens— about five kilometers from here. It's closer to our schools, so that's great. Dad will have to travel a little farther to work, but he doesn't mind(介意).

Here's the best thing. There's a swimming pool. Everyone who lives there shares it. I can't believe it. I can swim every day after school. I can't wait to ask all my classmates to have a po ol party. I am really excited about that.

Sometimes I really want to know if （是否） there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy making money for our life. One day, my mother was sewing a quilt （缝被子）. "Mum, is there 1 between you and dad?" I asked. 

With surprise in 2 eyes, my mum stopped her work for a moment. Then she said, "Susan, look at this thread （线）. You can't see it easily, 3 it's really there. It makes the quilt strong. If life is a quilt, love should be a thread. Love is inside."

The next spring, my father 4 ill. After they were back from hospital, my mother helped my father walk 5 the country road every day. They were kind and happy.

In Northwest China's Gansu Province, there are camel traffic lights at Mingsha Mountain and Yueya Spring, a scenic spot (景点) surrounded by sand dunes (沙丘). A red camel shows "stop" and a green camel shows "go". The special traffic lights, first designed to reduce the traffic jam in the desert, got much media attention in 2023 and have become a popular tourist attraction. 

According to a report, more than 3. 7 million tourists visited the spot in 2023, with 42 percent choosing camel rides. 

The quick increase in tourists needs more local camel herders (牧民). Zhao, 42, is an experienced camel owner from the Yueya Spring Village, who owns 21 camels. The rapid development of tourism has brought hope for the villagers. And they began to do the camel walking business at the scenic spot. 

In the busy season in summer, the scenic area is home to about 2, 000 camels. Each camel undertakes three trips a day. 

"Our village used to be poor, but now we are rich because of the camel walking business. They are like family members to us. In summer, we give them nice food and help them cool down. We also take them to the vet for annual check-ups in winter. " Zhao said. 

Chinese researchers reached the top of Qomolangma on May 4, 2022. They set up the world's highest automatic(自动的) weather station at an altitude(海拔 ) of 8,830 meters. This helps them to study the influences of climate change on the environment.

It is the highest automatic weather station in the world now. It has taken the place of the station sitting at an altitude of 8,430 meters on the south side of the mountain, which is the second highest now. This allows Chinese scientists to directly collect data(数据) for the first time from the top of the world's highest mountain.

Collecting and studying data from Qomolangma is not easy. But the data will give valuable information about the condition of local glaciers (冰川) and mountain snow. It will also help scientists study and understand the global monsoon(季风) system, so experts can make proper decision s about climate change.

Yao Tandong, a famous expert, said Chinese scientists had set up eight weather stations from 5,200 to 8,830 meters above sea level. Half of the stations were set up at an altitude higher than 7,000 meters." Along with strong government support and hard work by scientists, China has become a global front- runner in fields such as climate change." Yao said.

I want to learn English well. I believe that communicating with others is the best way to learn English. So I went to a language school in the UK. I also got a job as a saleswoman because I thought learning English in a language school was not enough. I needed to meet people outside to improve my speaking and listening. 

My first work week was very difficult. For example, when a customer asked me about a specific type of chocolate, I had no idea. After the customer left, the manager said to me, "It doesn't matter. No pain, no gain. " The manager's words encouraged me and I tried to learn how to communicate with customers in English. 

Three years ago, I only knew how to introduce myself in English. But right now, I know many different kinds of medicines and other things in English. I will never forget all my experiences in the UK about learning English.
