Recently, I've found many old photos of Mom, Dad, David, me and my first dog Coco. They meant a lot to me. I wondered how to keep them forever. Luckily, my son used a new app to clear up and improve some of the old photos. Looking at them brought back so many loving and happy memories. I even used one as my computer screen saver(屏保).

It is a picture of me sitting in my favorite chair,across from the wood stove(炉子) next to a bookcase full of old books. I am wearing my special Snoopy shirt and hugging Coco. There is a big smile on my face and a joyful shining light in my eyes. It was how I spent a lot of my winter afternoons as a girl, hugging Coco and reading an old book.

It is surprising how 60 years later that girl still lives inside of me. I still love comfortable chairs, warm stoves, Snoopy clothes, hugging dogs and reading books on cold winter days. But when I look in the mirror now, all I see is a thin face, grey hair, and lots of wrinkles(皱纹). The only thing that hasn't completely changed is the eyes. They are hiding behind glasses now and full of wisdom(智慧) given by ages. But they still have that same joyful shining light.

Looking at the little girl smiling at me from the computer screen and that 66-year-old woman looking back at me in the mirror can be a little bit strange at times. They look so different. However, they are both me. We can't stop getting older, but we can remain both joyful and young at heart forever.

Do you know what is the smallest bird in the world? The answer is" The hummingbird (蜂鸟)". How small is it ? Even the largest one in western South America is only about 20cm long. Its body weigh about 20g. The smallest hummingbird is the bee hummingbird. It lives in Cuba. It is about 

5.5cm long and weighs about 2g. They are the smallest living birds. The funny thing is that people often mistake them for bees.

Although hummingbirds are small, they have strong bodies. They are good at flying as well. One more interesting thing fact is that the humming bird is the world's smallest dinosaur(恐龙)." Birds are just one lineage(家系) of dinosaurs that happened to live to present. Julia Clark, a scientist at North Carolina State University, told Live Science.

A group of students meet in the library each week during lunchtime.  They are famous as the members of the Miss Margaret Fan Club.  Every Thursday, the twelve members of the Miss Margaret Fan Club make their way to the study centre in the back of the library. 

The first Thursday they met.  Miss Margaret greeted them with a little talk. 

"Welcome to the first meeting of the Writing Club!" she said.  "During the school year, we will meet here to work on story writing.  At the end of the year, I will put all of your stories together in a book. "

Miss Margaret gave a pencil and two pieces of paper to each student. 

"Your first homework is to think of a character.  Now, try to think about an interesting person.  When you think of this person, write down all the details (细节) about him or her in your head. "

In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution.  They join the Environment Club.  In the club, people work together to protect the environment. 

No-rubbish lunches.  How much do you throw after lunch? The Environment Club asks students to bring their lunches in bags that can be recycled.  The students try their best to make less rubbish. 

No-car days.  No-car days were started by 35 cities in France on 22nd September, 1998.  They were started to protect the environment.  By now, more than 1,000 cities around the world have had a no-car day.  In China, more and more people are taking part in the activity.  On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car—not the students and not the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember: Walk, jump, bike or run! Use your legs! It's lots of fun!

Turn off water! Do you know that some broken toilets could waste 20 to 40 ml of water an hour? In a year, that will fill a small river! In the Environment Club, the members mend those broken toilets. 

We have only one Earth.  Let's work hard together to make our world cleaner and more beautiful. 

According to a research more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten food go to waste in Laura's country each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply (供应). It is a sad fact especially when you consider how many families and homeless people are in hunger.

When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away food that was not eaten at all every day, she came up with an idea. She started a project to help her school dining hall to give away uneaten food to homeless shelters (庇护所) in her community. In the past three years, the same project has spread to other schools and some fast food restaurants throughout the city. The project is called Feed& find, and has already fed thousands of people in her city.

How does it work? Through an app, Feed& Find matches local homeless shelters with school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share the information about the food. A truck driver working for the project is then sent to pick it up and take it to a shelter.

Pretty cool, right? It's not surprising that people in other cities have got in touch with Laura hoping that she could have developed similar projects for their communities.

Some people, however, have concerns about the safety of the uneaten food. They think such food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food waste and it helps those in need.

Five years ago, on my way home on the bus, every night I always found an old man play his saxophone(萨克斯) near the river. I could see the big smile on his face. The beautiful music made me dream(梦想着) to play the saxophone just like that man.

Two weeks later it was my birthday. I opened my present and found that it was a saxophone! I put it to my mouth to play, but it wouldn't make a sound. I blew(吹) and blew but I couldn't get the saxophone to play. I was about to cry when suddenly the saxophone made a sound. I blew again, I moved my fingers on the saxophone and I made more sounds. Some of them were loud(大声的) and clear but many of them weren't. I was happy because I was playing very interesting sounds. But it wasn't beautiful music.

Then came the lesson. Night after night, week after week I practiced hard on playing. Slowly I started to get better and at last there came the magic day when the beautiful music came out of my saxophone.

Now I'm in the TV studio(电视台) with my saxophone. I'm so happy just like the old man near the river.
