We arrived in the hot, wet city—Bangkok. This is our first trip to Thailand. All the different smells make us want to try the food. We are going to eat something special for dinner tonight. The hotel we are staying in is cheap and very clean. We plan to stay here for a few days, visit some places in the city, and then travel to Chiang Mai in the North.
Tuesday, March 27th
Bangkok is wonderful and surprising! The places are interesting. We visited the famous market which was on water, and saw a lot of fruit and vegetables. Everything is so colorful, and we took lots of photos there! Later today we will leave for Chiang Mai. We will take the train there and stay there for two days, and then catch a bus to Chiang Rai.
Friday, March 30th
Our bus ride to Chiang Rai was long and boring. We visited a small village in the mountains. The village people here love the quiet life-no computers or phones. They are the kindest people I have ever met. They always smile and say "hello". Kathy and I can only speak a few words of Thai, so smiling is the best way to show our kindness. I feel good here, but we must go home. I hope to be able to come back next year.

About four years ago, I was on holiday and one day, one of my friends said, ' There's a bungee jumping place near here! Let's go!'I'd never done anything like that before, but I went anyway. I wish I hadn't gone! I was scared. I stood there with the rope round my ankle and I was really sweating. In the end, I just panicked and said, "I can't do this', so they took the rope off. My friend laughed and said, ' If only I'd taken a photo! That was so funny!'I felt really stupid. Paul, USA |
Last year, I went to a beach park. There was a waterslide which was 41 meters high. It might sound like fun, but it was one of the most scary moments of my life. When I started to fall, I thought, "▲" I was shaking the whole time. I still don't know how I did it, and I was crying for about fifteen minutes afterwards and I will never do that again, believe me. Roseli, Brazil |
When my older brother got married, he asked me if I'd make a speech at the wedding. I'd never done that before, but I said,' Sure, OK." Before the wedding, I thought of a few nice things to say and a couple of jokes. Easy! But on the day, just before I had to speak, I started to get nervous. I was biting my nails and everything. When I stood up, my mouth went dry and I even started to tremble(颤抖)! I stumbled through about two minutes of something and sat down again. Two years later, I did a course on public speaking. If only I'd thought of doing that before the wedding! Hanif, UK |
One year ago, we all went to a Mexican restaurant. It was my first time, so I didn't know anything about Mexican food. My friends told me about jalapeño peppers, and he persuaded me to try one. To be fair, he told me they were really powerful, and I was a bit anxious when I bit it. At first, it seemed OK, but then it exploded in my mouth! I started to breathe hard and I had to drink about a hundred glasses of water! That's something I won't do again. Ingrid, Sweden |
