①They are making a difference to the world. They are the force that is going to shape our future. Who are they? They are the young generation (世代) who were born after 2000.

②Last year, several young athletes (运动员) shone brightly at the Beijing Winter Olympics, giving us a chance to know about their generation nature. Certainly, this generation is filled with "brave warriors" who want to challenge impossibilities and push the limits(突破极限). Freestyle skier Gu Ailing is a good example. After finishing the first two excellent jumps in the event, it was certain that she could get a medal. But she decided to challenge a difficult trick (技法) instead of playing it safely. "I have never done this trick before. I just feel it was a chance (机会) to push myself to the limit."

③For those young athletes, the sport is never just about scores, but also about having as much fun as possible. Born in the US, she also faced doubts (质疑) for representing China. "I'm an 18-year-old girl out here living my best life. It doesn't matter whether other people are happy or not, because I feel I'm doing my best and I'm enjoying the sport itself."

④Gu's friend, Chinese snowboarder Su Yiming, also shares a similar opinion. He takes sports as a way to have fun. After he lost the gold to Canadian athlete Max Parrot (a great snowboarder),   ▲  .

⑤This is a young generation that dares to push the limits but also enjoys life.

As we all know, environmental pollution is still serious nowadays. Our group wanted to know how many students knew about each kind of the pollution and we wanted to learn how often they sorted(分类) rubbish. So we did a survey among the students in our school. Here are the results of our questionnaire(问卷).

 There are about 180,000 words in the Oxford English Dictionary, but most of us only know a few thousand of them. That's why we often want to get the answer of" how to improve vocabulary". Here are some ways to improve your vocabulary.

Watch English movies

 Watching the English movies is a vocabulary booster. If you see the movie of your favourite book, you will have a better understanding of the words in it. You read something and then you see it on the screen. You will remember better because you have a visual representation.

Get out of the house

 Going to new places and doing something new are great ways to build new knowledge. When you open your eyes to new people and things, you also get new words from them.

Join a book club

 In a book club, you have to spend some time reading. Read as many kinds of books as you can and you will learn more new words in different areas. Don't forget to write the new words down. Try to remember and use them.

Here are some greeting customs (打招呼习俗) in different cultures. 

French people greet each other with a handshake, but close friends kiss each other on both cheeks (脸颊) when they first meet and before they leave each other. In South Korea, it is better for people to bow when greeting each other. A bow is followed by a handshake. While shaking someone's hand, it is polite to support the right forearm (前臂) with the left hand. Kissing on the cheek is a common way of greeting in Brazil. But in a formal situation, people often shake hands. Men should shake hands before and after meeting each other, and if they become friends with each other, a light hug is often given. In a social situation, it's polite to greet everyone in the room in Ghana. A handshake is used in greeting, and the palm (手掌) must directly touch the palm of others'. People think it's impolite to touch the back of the hand. 

It is easy for us to do something to keep in good {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in our life. For example, it is good for us to eat {#blank#}2{#/blank#} food and play sports. And we also need to exercise to make sure that we live {#blank#}3{#/blank#} .
