Diana Armstrong, from the US, has broken the Guinness World Records for the world's longest nails (指甲).

She shared in an interview that she has no1 to cut her nails. That is the last connection she has to her elde daughter. Her elder daughter did her nails the night before she 2 unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 16.

Diana said, "I have been 3 my nails for 25years. I had a(n) 4 time when my elder daughter left me forever. She was the only one who did my nails,5 I couldn't cut them off after that."

Diana's younger daughter, Raina, also talked about 6 she thought of her mother's nails. She said, "When she told us the back story was because of my sister, it 7 my mind towards it because, just as much as she 8 my sister, I did, too. So if that's her9 of remembering her, then I can accept."

It's quite 10 to keep the maintenance (保养) of the nails. She always has to depend on her children and grandchildren for help and 11 uses her feet when she can. But she has also gotten used to using her hands 12 breaking her nails.

Diana has not been able to live a completely normal life because she is13 that people would judge(评价) her when they see her nails. However, the recognition (认可) from Guinness World Records has made a 14 to her and given her the confidence to share her story.

"These nails are always a part of me just because of my elder daughter. I always keep15 close to me this way," said Diana.

Ella loved her new life in Alaska, except for one thing—Grandma wasn't happy. 

Before they moved here, Ella lived with Dad and Grandma in Kansas. Every day Ella and Grandma cooked gardened or sewed(缝纫)together. 

Then Dad got a job in Alaska and would take 1 with him. Grandma thought Alaska wasn't a good place for a child. She wanted Ella to stay 2 Dad didn't agree. Finally Grandma decided to go, too. Ella was overjoyed. She couldn't imagine living anywhere without Grandma. 

By autumn, they were in Alaska. Ella had never had so much3 . She made some friends and rode in the snowfall. Grandma, however, didn't share Ella's joy. She didn't like the cold and 4 stayed at home She often said she5 the garden of sunflowers back in Kansas. 

Ella was 6 and wished to make Grandma happy. She went to her new friend Laura for 7 Laura's mom Helen suggested, "We can 8 your grandma a sunflower quilt that will be cheery and warm.

"Good idea! "Ella said.

Ella then 9 chose some brightest cloth from Grandma's bag and sewed the sunflower quilt every afternoon in Laura's house. It was slow going but enjoyable. She wanted to give Grandma a10 .

But Grandma seemed sadder and sadder, always talking about the11 and friends in Kansas. One night Ella heard Grandma 12 , She decided to take Grandma to Laura's house the next day. 

When Grandma saw the quilt they were making for 13 these days, she was moved to tears. She 14 and helped with the sewing. They chatted and laughed. EIla hadn't heard Grandma sound so 15 since they left Kansas.

Maybe what Grandma really needed was staying together, Ella thought.

This story is about a young man. He worked hard at his lessons. He was too busy. He didn't have time to rest, so he was ill. Every night, when he went to bed, he closed his eyes and tried to sleep. But he couldn't. He thought, "I must go to see the doctor." He said to the doctor, "I can't go to sleep at night." "Try counting numbers. When you reach one thousand, you'll be asleep."

The next day the man came back to the doctor's office. "Well," said the doctor, "how are you today?" 

"Yes," he said. "I tried counting one, two, three … up to （直到)one thousand. But when I reached five hundred and sixty-nine, I began to feel sleepy. I had to get up and drank some tea. Then I went on counting up to one thousand. But I still couldn't fall asleep." 

Nearly everybody loves oranges. They are sweet and juicy and it is easy to eat them. Some people also like their colour. 

The orange tree is beautiful. It has a lot of shiny(闪亮的) green leaves. Its small white flowers smell very sweet. An orange tree has flowers and fruit at the same time. 

Farmers in other parts of Asia and the Middle East(中东) learned to plant orange trees from Chinese. Then they taught Europeans how to plant orange trees. Later, Europeans took oranges to America. 

In English, "orange" means both a fruit and a colour. We use the name of the fruit for the colour. 

"Am I an 'I' person or an 'E' person? "Many young people are crazy about this popular topic and they just take a hot personality test called MBTI to find out the answer. 

MBTI groups people into 16 types, which start with the letter "I" or"E", such as "ENTJ" and "INFP". "I" is short for"Introverted(内向的)"while"E"stands for"Extroverted(外向的)"

As the standard for personality tests, many companies and organizations depend on MBTI to help them choose people for certain positions And now in China, Internet users are using it as a tool to guide their lives and relationships. 

But there are problems with MBTI. The test is too black and white. The results place people into only one of each of the types; for example, someone is either an introvert or an extrovert. But many people would surely sit somewhere in the middle of these two. For example, when an introverted person is with a group of introverted friends, he might become more social like an "E" person. According to experts, this is called "masking(伪装)". That is hiding your true personality in some situations. 

Research has found that over 50% of people get a different result when they take MBTI for a second time. Some find it hard to answer some questions and they ask, "I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an 'I' person or an 'E' person?"

The personality test may show something you don't know about yourself and can even be a fun icebreaker question when meeting new friends. And that's all it is-for fun. Knowing someone's MBTI result doesn't mean you really know this person!

From my second grade on, there was one thing I was afraid of every year: the piano recital(音乐演奏会). A recital 1  I had to practise a boring piece of music and play before strangers. Each year I 2  ask my father if I could run away from the recital" just once". And each year he would shake his head, saying 3  about building self-confidence and working towards a goal. 

So it was really great when I stood in church one recent Sunday with a camera in hand, and 4  my 68-year-old father sweating(流汗) in his shirt before rising to play the piano in 5  very first recital. 

My father had expected to play music since childhood but his family was poor and couldn't 6  lessons. He could have been regretting it, 7  too many of us do. But even if he was always thinking about his past, he wasn't stuck there. When he retired three years ago, he 8  his church music teacher to take him as a student. 

For a moment after my father sat down at the keyboard, he just looked down at his 9 . Has he forgotten the notes? I worried, remembering those special seconds many years ago when my mind would go blank and my fingers would become 10 . But then came the beautiful melody(旋律), from the 11  fingers that once repaired my fishing lines. And I learned he had been doing what his 12  teacher always told him: Only 13  the music and imagine the others aren't there. 

"I'm 14  of him for starting something new at his age, "I said to my son Jeff excitedly. 

"Yeah, and doing it so 15 , " Jeff added. We all smiled.
