Let's Do Sports

Doing sports plays an important role in our daily life.

It's Sunday afternoon and the weather is sunny and hot, My friends and I are in a large and beautiful park. We' re having a good time. 

Jack and Tom are swinging. Steve, Alice, John and Tim are playing hide-and-seek (捉迷藏). Rose, Mary and Lisa are skipping (跳绳). They re good at skipping. Susan is reading a book. Tina and Kate are chasing after my pet dog. They 're running around happily. 

We can see a lot of people in the park. Some are running and some are walking slowly. Look!

A boy and a girl are drawing pictures. Their parents are sitting next to them. They' re talking about something. 

Everyone is having a good time in the park. The park is a great place to have fun. 

An Interview with Andy Griffiths

Andy Griffiths is well known as a writer of children's books. Here are some interesting things you might not know about him.

What do you like to do after a long day of writing?

I go for long runs and bike rides beside the beach. An hour of exercise after a long day of writing gives me energy. Then I'm ready to write some more.

Do you write using a computer or by hand?

At first write the stories by hand, and then transfer (转录) them onto computer. I like to write by hand when travel. I find it very easy to lose myself in my diary when I am away from my usual activities.

What super power would you like to have?

X-ray-vision (影像) if can control it.

What is your favorite food?

I'm never happier than when I'm drinking banana milkshakes. And I love fish. But I don't like drinking fish milkshakes. They are just terrible!

What is your favorite book?

Alice in Wonderland. It has so many surprises and such silliness in it.

Do you write for adults too?

Only if I really have to. I much prefer the freedom and fun of writing for children.

What do you say to kids who say,"Why should I read?"

As Dr. Seuss says, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

Kids' birthday parties are more fun than adults (成人的) parties. And there are four things for parents to remember when they want to have a birthday party for their kids.

Make a list(列清单). Each kid wants different kinds of parties. Write down all your child's ideas on a piece of paper and then get things ready according to the list.

Make invitations. Make sure you write down the name of each guest (客人), so you will know the number of the things you have to prepare, such as chairs and plates.

Buy something to eat. You need to decide whether to buy a cake or make one. Decide what kind of food to have. Make sure to get the food ready on time. If you go to a party store, there will be everything you need and you won't have to go to different stores to get everything ready.

Prepare some drink. You should buy some drinks, such as Coke and juice. I think the best drink is a small bottle of cold water if it is hot in summer.

Typhoon Yagi (台风"摩羯") as grown into a super typhoon. It was the 11th typhoon of the year and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} damage to Wenchang, Hainan Province, with wind speeds near the center reaching over level 17.

On October 7th, the Typhoon Yagi brought heavy rainfall {#blank#}2{#/blank#} most of the island, while it rained {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in the northern part of the island than it did yesterday, and some cities and counties were tack of power and water.

The officers in Hainan took {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to protect its citizens from danger. On Friday, everyone closed all windows and doors tightly. They stayed indoors and kept {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from glass windows. Citizens listened to the radio for updates. Safety first!
