This is No. 12 High School. My friend, Linlin, is in this school. Linlin has short hair, a big nose, a small mouth and big eyes. She is thirteen. She is in Class Two, Grade Seven. She's a good student. She has two good friends in her school. They are Lucy and Lily. They're sisters. They are fourteen. They have small noses, small eyes, but they're not short. Lucy and Lily are in Class One, Grade Eight.

Last Saturday，there was{#blank#}1{#/blank#} to do at home, so I suggested going out to play. However, my brother said to me, "I have {#blank#}2{#/blank#} cards. Let's ask {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to play cards with us." I don't like card games, so I said to him, "It's boring. Let's do {#blank#}4{#/blank#} else." In the end, we agreed to go shopping. My brother bought {#blank#}5{#/blank#} new CDs in a new music shop. I didn't buy {#blank#}6{#/blank#} things there, but I bought {#blank#}7{#/blank#} new running shoes, in the department store. And my brother didn't buy {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in the department store. He said {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in the department store was not very beautiful. Finally we bought {#blank#}10{#/blank#} fruit in the supermarket.

Three hours, thirty-five minutes and thirty seconds. It took Belachew Girma the 1 to set a world record(纪录). This man from Ethiopia didn't set a world record for running or jumping. He set the world record for laughing 2 . Belachew Girma laughed for 3 3 hours without stopping!

However, Belachew Girma didn't always like to laugh. 4 , he wasn't very happy in the past. After his wife died, Belachew Girma thought he would 5 laugh again. Then, someone taught him how to laugh. Belachew Girma started to know: laughing made him feel good. So he wanted to laugh all the time.

Belachew Girma practiced laughing night and day. The only time he didn't practice laughing was when he was 6 . Someone told Belachew Girma about a laughter 7 and he decided to take part in it. He went on practicing his laughing 8 . After laughing for over 3 hours, Belachew Girma 9 the competition. He 10 a world record holder(持有人)！ He didn't have time to be sad or to worry 11 he was always laughing.

Belachew Girma wanted to help 12 by laughing. He travelled around the world to 13 with people about his experience (经验). To Belachew himself, laughing saved his 14 . Today, he finds poor kids and teaches them to laugh. When kids laugh, it 15 their sadness. The laughing makes them much happier and healthier. It helps make their lives better.

Belachew Girma knows: The more he laughs, the more others laugh too. By laughing, he expects to make the world a happier place.

Last week I went to an art show. A painting caught my eyes. To my amazement, it was painted by Steven, one of my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Then many things about him came into my mind.

Steven was from a poor family. His parents{#blank#}2{#/blank#}not afford to buy him some basic things that he needed. Once our school provided gloves for poor children. I put Steven's name on the list. He was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when he received a pair. He loved to wear them and they were always {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than anybody else's. 

Steven had a gift(天赋) for painting and he could {#blank#}5{#/blank#} understand what I described in class. But he didn't have money to buy the paper for painting. So sometimes, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him some. He parctised hard. And I often showed his paintings of the class. He was greatly {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

One day just before the summer vacation, he came to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} some art books. When the new term began, he showed some of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} paintings to me. I felt shocked . They were very good. Then we talked a lot. He said he would keep on. 

Later he was admitted(录取) to a famous art university. After graduation, he had many difficulties, but he never gave up. He was always {#blank#}10{#/blank#} his best to improve himself. His hard work and strong mind led to his success.

Today our school is having a sports meeting. A lot of students are having different  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (kind) of sports on the sports field. A football game {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Class 3 and Class 5 is going on right now. It's exciting to see which team will win in the end. Look{#blank#}3{#/blank#} those students over there! They {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (practise) the long jump. One of them jumps {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(high) than anyone else. He wants {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(break) the school record (记录). Not far away, some girls are running and the girl in blue runs much {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(fast) than other girls. On the corner, a teacher is telling a few students how to throw a discus (铁饼){#blank#}8{#/blank#}(far). 

We students love sports. Sports can help us keep {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(health). They help people live {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(happy). Also, people may become good friends after sports.

 What does a day look like for a high school student in the United States? Well,I can tell you about my day in high school.

 Our schoolday goes from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Sometimes I have cheerleading(啦啦队活动) practice or play practice at 6:30 am. If I have time,I eat breakfast at the school dining room.

 Then I go towards my locker(锁柜) and take my books for the first period. Each class goes for about 50 minutes and we have 10 minutes to get to the next class. We study many things, such as science, maths, French and PE.

I play the piano in a band, so one of my class periods is used for that. Lunchtime is usually at 12:30 pm, and then we have some time to hang out outside or by our lockers. At the end of the day there is a seminar (研讨会) period. It is used for studying or meetings.

 After school, I cheer at a basketball game, or have speech practice. My family always try to have dinner at around 7:00 pm, but there isn't always time. I finally start doing homework at around 8:00 pm or 9:00 pm.

 So there you have it! That's my day in high school.
