For most people, summer holidays mean sun, sea and sand, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. She had a holiday full of ice and snow. She and her family travelled across Greenland! Starting just above the Arctic Circle (北极圈), Sarah's family used dogsleds with kites to cross the world's biggest island.

    Sarah says {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. "There is only snow, ice, and more snow. " The family travelled 15 miles a day for 22 days, moving faster when strong winds pushed along their kites.

    Then the weather became a bit hot for the dogs to pull sleds during the day, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The Landrys lived in tents, ate dried food, and took baths with heated water. When they weren't travelling, they played with kites and made snowmen. Using their mobile phones, the family could send and get emails even from Greenland's ice cap! The road to the top was icy and dangerous.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. "Icebergs (冰山) were so bright, just like the rising sun." said Sarah. Now she and her family have returned home, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Next holiday, they are going to the South Pole.

Today is my birthday. I'm 16 years old. I'm not a little boy running in the hallways(走廊) at school. I wanted to know who would 1 my birthday. I really wanted to have a birthday cake because I wanted to 2 .But I got up and found my 3 didn't do anything. My father was 4 a newspaper on the sofa. My mother went out to buy some things for lunch. I5 my computer and went online. There were just some people online. No one said 6 about my birthday. After thirty7 , my mum came back. She went into the8 and cooked. It seemed that the world forgot me and I wasn't9 at all. I said to myself, "You are 16 now. You're not a child. Forget your birthday."

But when I was doing my maths homework, my 10 came to me and asked, "What kind of cake do you want?"11 a surprise(惊喜)! At that time, I didn't know12 to say. I chose a chocolate cake in the end. I knew that the whole world may forget me,13 my mum wouldn't.

Also, when I went online in the evening, I talked to my friends. Many of them said happy birthday to14 . And my phone was full of text messages(短信)saying"Happy birthday".

It was a(n) 15 day after all!

It was Lisa's seventh birthday. She received a special gift from Uncle To by. It was a box of little ducks. Lisa was very excited, because she was looking forward to playing with little ducks.

Lisa tried to carry the box to her garden. However, the box of ducks was heavy and she dropped it. The box fell to the ground and broke. The ducks all ran out. They ran everywhere—into neighbours' gardens, into the field, even into the next street. Lisa spent hours trying to find them and took them back to her garden.

Then she called her uncle and told him about the little accident.

"Did you find them all?" her uncle asked.

"I hope so," Lisa replied. "I caught ten of them."

"That's very interesting," her uncle said with a smile, "because I only sent you eight."

A set of photos of a boy carrying his tennis rackets in a bamboo basket has gone popular.

 The boy, Wang Fa, 14, is a member of the Va ethnic group(佤族) from Yunnan. After winning the under-14 gold medal at the ASICS Tennis Junior Tour in Guangzhou, a fan from Yunnan gave him the bamboo basket as a gift and the photos were taken.

"We always carry bamboo baskets when we work in the field. This is a usual farming tool of the Va ethnic group. I carried my rackets in this basket to remember my hometown," Wang said after the match.

 Before tennis, Wang was just a common boy from a village. But in 2016, a local club chose him as one of the first 10 local children to learn to play tennis. "I was worried at the beginning because the outside world was so different from my home," he said, adding that tennis has helped him make more friends and get a better education.

 Over the past six years, Wang, along with other players at the Yunnan Wild Elephants Tennis Club, has trained hard to improve his skills and physical strength. The children would get up at 6:30 am and practice for more than six hours a day. Every day, they needed to swing(挥动)a racket more than 7,000 times and run 9 kilometers.

"If it were not for tennis, I would still be helping out my family with farm work back home," Wang said.

 Wang's parents didn't want him to learn tennis at first because they didn't have enough money. But the tennis club offered to teach him for free. For Wang, winning theASICS Tennis Junior Tour was the beginning of a hopeful future. "I believe I will be the top on the professional stage," he said.

Today, our teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. 

Bob said he 1  to be a scientist to invent new kinds of rockets(火箭). He once watched the launch(发射) of the Tianzhou-6 spaceship in person, and it was very exciting. He wanted that one day he 2  build a rocket himself. 

Jennie mentioned she 3  of being a radio presenter. The teacher asked 4  she wanted to be a radio presenter. "Because my father is a driver and he often listens to radio programmes during long journeys. He thinks that those programmes 5  an important role in keeping him awake(清醒的). I want to help people like my father relax, " she said. And she also explained 6  she would make her dream come true. 

Then Jake stood up and said that he loved to eat. Everyone in the classroom laughed when we heard that, but the teacher smiled and encouraged him to go on. He said 7  he wanted to open a Chinese restaurant abroad and introduce real Chinese food to people all over the world. 

For me, I want to be a maths teacher in a high school. I know it's hard, but I promise that I8  hard for my dream job. 

Finally, the teacher said that all dreams 9  valuable and we should not laugh at others' dreams. I agree with him. We never know 10  ! The most important thing is that everyone should work hard to make our dream come true.
