Here are some students' New Year's resolutions of 2016.

Hi, my name is Selina. I'm going to do my best at school. I'm going to finish my homework on time. If I need some help with a subject, I'm going to ask my teacher for help.

My name is Dave. I'm going to eat fruit and vegetables every day. I'm going to drink more water and milk. I'm also going to brush my teeth after meals every day.

My name is Tina. I'm going to meet more people and make more friends this year. I'm also going to be friendly to other kids in my class. I'm going to be friendly to kids who need friends—like someone who is shy or new.

I'm Tony. I'll never give out personal information such as my name, home address, school name and telephone number on the Internet. Also, I'll never send a picture of myself to someone or talk with someone online(在网上).

Many of us have ever loved the two toy bears — a brown Teddy bear and a yellow Winnie-the-Pooh bear. The two toy bears come from real stories in life.

In 1902, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the USA, went hunting (打猎). The hunting dogs found an old bear in the forest near Washington DC and the guide asked the president to shoot (射杀) it. But President Roosevelt disagreed. A cartoonist drew a cartoon showing that the president refused to shoot the bear. Soon people named the bear Teddy which was Theodore's nickname (昵称).

In 1913, a captain named Harry Colebourn paid twenty dollars for a yellow bear which was born in Canada. The captain's hometown, Winnipeg, was the origin (起源) of the bear's name. When World War I began, the captain went to France. Winnie was sent to London Zoo. Because of its lovely look, the bear became popular with children.

The Picture of Peace

When Mike was seven, he knew his dream was to be a photographer. He kept working on it for years. Recently, he was trying to take a picture of a sunset(日落) to enter the school1 competition. 

"Mom，it has been cloudy these days. I don't think I can get this picture!" Mike complained. 

"Why not use one of your photos on the computer?" suggested Mom. 

"I can't-the rules say the photos have to be taken with a traditional camera. We hand in a roll of film, it gets developed(冲洗胶卷), and we2 one photo for the competition. "

"Why is a sunset so important?" Mom asked. 

"The3 of the competition is peace，" Mike explained, "and I feel most peaceful seeing a sunset. "

Zach, his six-year-old brother came out of the bedroom. " Hey, you want to take a picture of me? Look!" He put both arms over his head. 

"Not right now, " said Mike, laughing. 

That very afternoon, Mike felt excited when he saw clear skies. He carefully lined up his shot(镜头) and waited4 till the sun reached the ground. 

"That's it! Perfect!" he shouted cheerfully. 

The next morning, Mike noticed he could take one more picture to complete the roll of film, so he walked into Zach's room. Zach was 5 quietly with a teddy bear under his arm. Mike didn't wake Zach up, and carefully took a picture of him. 

A week later, Mike got the photos. The sunset picture was the one he was most6 to see. There it was! It was as nearly perfect as Mike had expected. 

Then, he looked through the other photos. Suddenly，he stopped. His eyebrows(眉毛) rose as he 7 the photo of Zach. He looked back at the photo of the sunset，which seemed less perfect now. He 8 the two choices. Finally, he decided to hand in the photo of Zach for the competition. 

"I'm going shopping in the village," George's mother said to George on Saturday morning. "So be a good boy and don't get into trouble. And don't forget 1 good care of Grandma." Then she well out.

Grandma 2 in the chair by the window when she opened one little eye and said, "Now you heard 3 your mother said, George." "Yes, Grandma," George said.

George was bored to tears. He didn't have a brother or a sister. His father was a farmer, and the farm they lived on was miles away from anywhere, 4 there were never any children to play with. He was tired of staring (注视) at hundreds of pigs, hens, cows and sheep. He was especially tired of having to live in the house with his grandma. Looking after her all by himself was hardly 5 way to spend a Saturday morning.

"Go and make me a cup of tea for a start, 6 sugar and milk." Grandma said. Most grandmothers are lovely, kind, helpful old ladies, but not this one. George's grandma was a woman who was always complaining (抱怨) about something or other. She spent all day 7 on her chair by the window.

George was told that Grandma used to be a gentle lady, but as she grew older, she was not able to look after 8 and even worse, she was easy to get angry.

Thinking of this, George went into the kitchen and made Grandma a cup of tea with a teabag. He put one spoon of sugar and some milk in it. He stirred (搅拌) the tea well and carried it into the living room 10 .
