In our lives, we have to get on with the people around us. Being a decent (得体的) person will help us form healthy relationships. Here are some useful suggestions on how to be a decent person. 

Let others trust you. Keep up with your promises. If you promise to be somewhere at a certain time, be there. If you say you'll do a favor, do it. Decent people follow through because they want others to feel safe. People need dependable friends and family members to have a sense of safety in their lives. 

Avoid judgment. Remember, you cannot fully understand what it's like to be inside someone else's head. Therefore, avoid trying to pass judgment on a behavior or a decision. Everyone is different. So, it should not be surprising if another person's choice is different from yours. It's okay to put yourself in someone else's shoes and try to understand their decisions. 

Provide support during bad times.Think about times in your life that were hard. You probably had friends, family members, and other loved ones helping you along the way. If you want to be a decent person, you should provide support in return. When people go through difficult times, put yourself out there and help. 

Let go of anger. If you live with a lot of anger, you're more likely to be unfriendly to others. Becoming a decent person often means letting go of some anger. If you find yourself becoming angry, take physical means to cool down. For example, take a deep breath. Always remember to avoid taking things personally. This will help you away from your anger.

Too many Americans watch too much television. Americans maybe watch more TV than any other people in the world. This is not a good thing. Because of TV, Americans are getting too heavy and spend less time with their friends.

Many American students watch TV between twenty and sixty hours a week! That is very bad for their study. When they watch too much TV, they have less time for exercise, their study and sleep. Most people who watch a lot of TV eat food at the same time. This is very bad because they eat too much and become too heavy.

It is better to watch just a little bit of TV a day. Thirty minutes to one hour is enough. If you have much free time, it is a good idea to read a book, play sports or spend time with your friends and families. Studying is also a good way to spend your free time.
