Wen Jiayi，14，Chengdu，China Living with my grandparents gives me a chance 3 a better understanding of the meaning of "family". The time that I spend with my grandparents is usually 4 than the time I spend with my parents. My grandparents and I always have fun together. We get on very well and always show respect 5 each other. We go on walks，chat happily while having lunch，and watch TV together. My grandfather often 6 delicious dishes for our family and I often help my grandmother to buy the food for our dishes. I really enjoy being with my grandparents. 

Liu Haoxuan，13，Beijing，China Most of the time，I am happy 7 the idea of living with my grandparents. I think they're lovely and nice. But sometimes I also feel 8 . They may look at some new things with 9 old-fashioned view and try to make me believe that some things are unacceptable. Sometimes it seems really difficult for them 10 what exactly I like. I guess this 11 the "generation gap（代沟）". However，I don't mind having disagreements with them. It is part of life，12 it？

I am close to my grandparents，as well as to most of my 13 relatives. Most of my American friends don't have such close family relations like Chinese people do，14 I know that some Italian-Americans also have big families. All of the members of an Italian family 15 choose to live on the same street. They prefer to live next to each other. It seems that different cultures have different family traditions and people keep those traditions even after moving to another country. 

 It's 2: 30 in the afternoon. The house is quiet(安静的)." Tom?" Mom says. No one answers.

 Mom comes to Tom's room. He is not on the bed, but his model plane is on the desk." He is not in his room, and he is not in the yard, " Mom thinks. Then Mom comes to his grandparents' room. Tom likes to play with his grandpa's tape player, but he is not there.

 Mom looks for Tom everywhere. Where is Tom? Mom is worried. She wants to call Dad. She comes to the living room to get the phone.

" What's that? " Mom sees something black under the sofa. Oh, it's Eric, Tom's dog. It loves sleeping there. What is next to Eric? It's Tom!

Two brothers planned a two- day trip in a forest and soon they were lost. They were far from home. But they knew how to camp. The older brother went to look for firewood (木柴). The younger brother went to look for food and water, but he could not find anything. He was very tired, so he sat down to have a rest. 

He noticed a bird in the tree next to him. Then he heard a voice, "I know where your parents are! I know where your parents are!"

Wondering who was talking, the boy looked around. He got so confused (迷惑的) when he saw nobody. Then he heard the words again. Suddenly, he came to know that the bird was talking to him!

The young boy looked at the bird. He said, "Can you really help us get home?"

She said, "Yes, I can. I know the village you live in. I can take you back there. I only ask for three insects (昆虫) to eat. That will give me the strength (力气) to guide you home."

The young boy quickly agreed to feed the bird and ran back to his camp as fast as he could to tell his older brother about it. His older brother did not believe him at first. Slowly he agreed to go with him and met the talking bird. 

They found three insects for the bird. The bird swallowed (吞下) them quickly. "We will leave in the morning," she said. 

The next morning, the boys followed the bird home. It took them many days. When the boys got home, they and their parents were very happy to see each other again. The parents had been sad since the boys left. The family decided that they would always feed hungry birds.

Jess Bhamra is the 18-year-old daughter of an Indian family in London. Jules Paxton is the same age and the daughter of an English family. Jess is crazy about football, but because she's a girl, she isn't allowed to play. Sometimes she plays in the park with some boys and one day, Jules, who also plays football, sees Jess playing. They get on really well and Jules invites Jess to try out for the local women's football team coached by Joe. When he sees how good Jess is, Joe puts her in the team. When Jess's parents find out that she's been playing football without their knowing, they make her stop.

The team gets to an important final. Unfortunately, the final is on the same day as Jess's sister's wedding. Joe asks Mr Bhamra to let Jess play, but he refuses. However, her father notices how sad Jess is. So halfway through the wedding, he lets Jess go and she rushes to the game!

When she shows up, there are only thirty minutes left and her team are losing 1-0. Soon, the score is 1-1, and when there's a free kick, Jess has to bend the ball around the other team's players to score. She makes it, and the team wins!

A university in California offers soccer scholarships(奖学金) to Jess and Jules. Jess finally convinces her parents to let her go. Jess and Jules set off for America and both of them become top players in their team. Their parents feel proud because they make their dreams come true.
