On our second day in China, we had already been asked to join the school for supper. Nervous and unsure of the food and table manners, we politely agreed. Coming to China, the thing I was most nervous about was the food, and now my first dining experience would be with the school staff. 

In Chinese culture the most important person sits facing the door. When plates of food started arriving, I wished I had practiced my chopstick skills before arriving in China. 

Chinese culture is all about being hospitable (好 客 的 ). This means ordering lots of food and encouraging you to keep eating. It also means drinking wine or tea. You'll never have an empty glass. 

It's polite to try everything, but if you know me, you would know l don't eat everything. Fresh fish? Sure, an entire fish on the plate staring at you while you pick at it. Not for me. Snails with their shell crushed and cooked into a meal?No thanks!The lung of a pig? I'll pass. It seems that the Chinese really eat everything!

The Chinese people are friendly. They want to learn about you and teach you about their culture. They like to ask questions, and it is polite to ask them many questions and keep the conversation going. 

Every day I'm pushed out of my comfort zone (舒 适 区 ). But for the most part, I discover something I really enjoy. The experience itself is quite amazing, I've learned a lot, yet there's still so much to learn. It surely is different from my culture and way of living, but being in their shoes and seeing life through their eyes has really helped me to understand. And I look forward to discovering more!

On 18th November.1908, three men went up in a balloon (气球).They started early in London. The headman was Augusta Gaudron, and the other two men were Tannar and Maitland. They had a big balloon and they were ready for a long way.

Soon they heard the sea. They were carrying the usual rope, and it was hanging down from the basket of the balloon. At the end of the rope they had tied a metal box. This could hold water, or it could be empty. So they were able to change its weight. It was for use over the sea. They were also carrying some bags of sand.

After the sun rose, the balloon went higher. It went up to 3,000 metres, and the air was very cold. The water in the balloon became ice. Snow fell past the men's basket, and they could see more snow on the ground. The men tried to throw out some more sand, but it was hard. They tried to break the icy sand with their knives, but it was not easy. The work was slow and they were still falling, so they had to drop some whole bags of sand. One of them fell on an icy lake and made a black hole in the ice.

At last they pulled the box into the basket. It was still snowing, so they climbed to get away from the snow. They rose to 5,100 metres! Everything became icy. They were so cold that they decided to land. They came down in Poland heavily but safely. They had travelled 1,797kilometres from London!

Computers can injure you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bicycle and break your arm, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly. 

Your eyes

Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be at least 50 centimeters from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest. 

When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect（反射）on the screen. If the windows is in front of you, the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes. 

Your hands and wrists（手腕）

Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these three rules:（1）Rest your wrists on something.（2）Keep your elbows（肘）at the same height as the keyboard.（3）Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way. 

Your back

Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in a wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms（前臂）, wrists and hands should all be parallel to （与……平行） the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every 30 minutes and exercise your arms, legs and neck. 

On December 9th, 3:50 in the afternoon, many students in China watch TV. It is a very interesting science class from the space station(大空站). They all like it very much!

Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu are the three teachers. And Wang Yaping is the only woman teacher. She is great fun!

First, she says hello to all of the students. Then she lets the students have a look at their "rooms" in the space station. She gets an apple from the fridge（冰箱）．She says, "This apple is in the space station for a long time but it is really fresh. In her class, Wang Yaping helps the students to know much about water in space. She puts a ping-pong ball in the water. The ball doesn't go up but stays in the middle of the water. It is really interesting! Things in the space station are not the same as we know. Many students ask questions about space science. They are happy to help them.

Wang Yaping has a flower. It is from her daughter. She is only five now. She watches her mom in the space class, too! After one hour, the space science class finishes. Wang says, "All of you are flowers of China. One day you can come to space yourselves and find new things about space!"

On April 24th,2024, an online video said that the famous panda, Huahua, got a new job {#blank#}1{#/blank#}the honorary director（荣誉局长）in Chengdu. As soon as the video was shown online, people called her "Director Hua".

Huahua is a panda who has become popular on the Internet. She's only three years and nine months old, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she has millions of fans all over the world. Huahua is{#blank#}3{#/blank#}（small）than other adult pandas. She is round and cute, and very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（friend）.

People also love the story of Huahua and her keeper, Grandpa Tan. Grandpa Tan looks after Huahua {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（careful）and feeds her every day.

On April 25th, a reporter {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（call）the local government. The man on{#blank#}7{#/blank#}other end of the phone said, "Huahua has been already the symbol of Chengdu's culture. More and more {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（visit）will come to Chengdu to see Huahua."

So, if you visit Chengdu, don't forget {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（say）hello to "Director Hua"! She's waiting to meet her fans and show {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（they）the beauty of Chengdu. Who knows, you might even get a chance to see her eating her favorite bamboo. It will be a fantastic experience!

Cafes

 You can get a drink and stay in a cafe to study for a few hours. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . Some students enjoy studying in cafes because they find the low noise(低噪声) is good for their studies.
