A man was walking in a forest. He was holding an axe (斧子) in his hand. A little tree stopped him and said, "Please use your axe to 1 those tall trees, my friend. Because of them, the sunlight cannot fall on me, and I have no room at all to spread myself. Without them, I'll be the tallest tree in the forest."

The man 2 to help the little tree. He used his 3 to cut down the trees. Then the little tree had 4 room. The little tree felt happy and said 5 to the man. When the Sun came out, the little tree lost water and it became very 6 . Later when a storm came, the little tree 7 all its leaves and branches. "Oh, poor little tree!" a bird said 8 "You shouldn't ask the man to cut down the trees. The tall trees protected you so that you didn't worry about heat or wind or rain. Time went by and you would 9 . When you get tall and 10 , you can have enough strength to fight against the Sun and the storms. So I don't think you should do that." After hearing the words of the bird, the little tree felt regretful (后悔的).

Last Friday afternoon, my parents told me that they {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to take me to the countryside to enjoy the beauty of nature. I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} very happy about the trip. Before the trip, we prepared （把. . . . . . 准备好）everything for it. 

Then the next day, my father {#blank#}3{#/blank#}us to the countryside. Along the way, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery（风景）. The {#blank#}4{#/blank#}are taller（更 高）and greener （更绿）than those in the city. We stopped our car at times and went out to breathe （呼吸）the fresh air. It was so {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. We felt so relaxed. 

Two hours later, we {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the countryside. It was so beautiful there. We saw some farmers working in the fields. We went to help them and they talked to us{#blank#}7{#/blank#} . 

We had {#blank#}8{#/blank#}picnic in the fields. We enjoyed ourselves very much. We all thought the life in the countryside was more interesting than that in the city. We all hoped to live in the countryside one day. 

"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, to draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life." These words come from my favorite movie, Daydreamer. They are always kept in my mind. The movie, directed by Brahman Turner, taught me to live my own life and to do something 1 . Inspired by the movie, I started to learn skateboarding last summer vacation.

The first 2 are always the hardest. I still remember the first day. The 3 was not great. I fell over again and again. I found skateboarding was a(n) 4 sport for beginners because you may fall over many times like I did. But falling cannot be 5 for anyone. I wore a helmet and protective gear(装备) to help keep safe. I practiced all day until sunset that day. For the next few days, I practiced hard every day. I knew that practice makes perfect. And 6 , I could skateboard. I was so proud of that.

However, as I 7 with my hobby, I met quite a few challenges. I still practiced hard for the rest of that 8 , though made little progress. Unluckily, I hurt my knee. When the summer vacation was over, I had to return to school. But I knew I would 9 skateboarding again later because it is fun and brings me joy.

It is important that we do what we love and keep doing it throughout our life. As a song goes, "One day you'll leave this world behind, so live a life you will not 10 ."

There are different opinions about who invented the umbrella. Some people say that the people of ancient Egypt invented it, some say the Romans invented it and some say Luban's wife invented it in ancient China. There's even an interesting story about its invention in China.

Luban was the most famous craftsman(工匠) in ancient China. One day, Luban and his wife were taking a walk and enjoying the beautiful view. Suddenly it began to rain. Both of them were wet when they went back home. Luban's wife said, "If there is something that can protect people from the rain when they are walking outdoors, it will be wonderful." Then Luban said,"That's easy. I will build many pavilions(亭子)." His wife replied, "That's a good idea, but it is not convenient.Is it possible to make a movable pavilion, which could always follow the people?"She thought about it all day and night.

One day, she saw some kids playing in the rain, and each kid held a big lotus leaf over the head to protect themselves from getting wet. That gave her great inspiration. Then, she made the first umbrella in ancient China.

Since the umbrella was invented, it has been part of people's lives in every corner of the world. Right now, there are many kinds of umbrellas, such as beach umbrellas, kid umbrellas and market umbrellas.

How many umbrellas are made every year in the world? Maybe millions or even more. One interesting thing is that most umbrellas in the world are made in China. Shangyu in ZhejiangProvince alone has more than 1,000 umbrella factories and it is called"China's Umbrella City".

Once there lived an old man in a mountain village. He was a famous hunter. He often went hunting alone in the mountains. He was not afraid of any wild animals, not even a tiger. 

One night, someone saw a tiger come into the village, and stole two sheep away. The next night the tiger came again. The villagers were frightened. They asked the old hunter to catch it so that they could have a safe life. 

When the old man heard about the tiger, he thought hard. He wondered why the tiger came at night twice but only stole the sheep. The next night he walked outside the village. Suddenly he saw the tiger coming. He quickly threw himself on the ground. To his surprise, the tiger did not come at him. But went away. He followed it quietly and found it was running on two of its feet just like a man. Then everything was clear. 

On the fourth day, when it got dark, the hunter took some animal skins with him and hid himself behind a big tree near the village. He was waiting for the" tiger". As soon as the " tiger" came near the tree, the old hunter jumped out, caught the " tiger" by the "leg" and said, " Don't be afraid. I do not mean to hurt you. You know who I am, don't you?"

The " tiger" said " Yes" and took off the tiger's skin. 

"You are poor. But you mustn't steal anything from others. Here are some animal skins for you. You may sell them at the market. With the money, you can buy food and clothes for your family. Work harder and try to make a living. " With tears in his eyes, the poor man thanked the kind-hearted old hunter and walked home. 

Nelson-Mandela was one of the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (great) leaders in the world. He was born in Transkei, South Africa {#blank#}2{#/blank#} July 18th, 1918. He died on December 5th, 2013 at the age of 95. What bad news! Nelson Mandela was an important person all over the world. 

When Nelson Mandela {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) young, he went to school and studied at school. In the 1950s, almost all black people didn't go to school. Only a few black people had rights {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (go) to school. Nelson Mandela was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (luck). He finished his schoolwork {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (successful). After graduation he became a lawyer. 

Nelson Mandela was elected President in 1994. He became his country's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (one) black president after spending 27 years in prison. He loved his country {#blank#}8{#/blank#} served it with all his heart. He tried to bring people of different races together. He once won about one hundred{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. (prize). The most important prize was {#blank#}10{#/blank#}Nobel Peace Prize. HE won the prize in 1993.
