Once there was a teenage boy who was known as a fast runner in his village. He only cared about winning every race and becoming more successful.

One day,the boy took part in a running race in his village. He won the 200, 100 and 50-meter races without any problem. He was proud of himself and received great applause (掌声). But his grandfather stepped in and challenged him to a race with two unexpected competitors, an old man and a blind girl. The boy thought it was unbelievable but accepted. In the race, the boy finished first, while the old man and the blind girl were still at the starting line. With joy, he waved his hands at the crowd. But they kept silent.

"Why are people not cheering for me like before?" he asked his grandfather.

"Start the race again with them. But this time, all of you should cross the finish line at the same time," the grandfather replied.

The boy was surprised but agreed to the race. During the second race, the boy took the hands of the old man and the blind girl and walked slowly with them to the finish line. The crowd gave them a standing applause.

The boy asked his grandfather, "For whom are the people cheering? Is it for me, or them?" The grandfather smiled and said. "The crowd did not cheer for any one of you. They cheered for how you all ran the race together. Facing the race of life, what matters is not just winning, but how you run the race."

It was the last day of our final exam. On the steps of one building, a group of engineering (工程学) students were 1 their exam, which would begin in a few minutes. There was 2 on their faces. This was their last exam—then on to graduation and jobs. After four years of college, they felt 3 to see the world.

Chinglish usually means English vocabulary with Chinese grammar on street signs or products. However, many English-speaking tourists love them. Tom has been in Beijing for years. "I think many Chinese people dislike Chinglish. But I love it. It's quite interesting. I think if the translations of English in China are all perfect, something will be lost from Chinese culture(文化),"he said.

However, Chinglish will probably be history in the future. Beijing has made a plan to correct Chinglish in five years. "It is so funny to see Chinglish on the signs. And they are a kind of trouble for communication between the Chinese and foreigners," one from Beijing said.

However, some people in China like Chinglish. They think that English "borrowed" a lot from other languages such as German, French and Spanish in the past, and now it's Chinese's turn.

Life is like the four seasons. Now I am very old, but when I am young, it is the spring of my life. I play a lot, and I grow bigger and bigger day by day. There are sweet days and heartbroken (心碎的) days. Some days the sun shines. I have a good job. I am strong and happy. Then I marry (结婚) and have a child. In those days, I am busy and work hard. I start to get gray hair. It's the summer of my life and it passes quickly.

Then the days get shorter. Leaves fall down from the trees. My child is a university（大学） student and then an engineer. My home is much quieter. I start walking more slowly. One day I leave my job, and I retire. I have more time. I know this is my autumn, a beautiful time when the trees change colour and give people delicious fruit. But the days are getting shorter and colder. Winter comes. I am older and weaker. I know I do not have many days, so I will enjoy them to the end.

Zhuhai No. 4 Middle School is in Guangdong, China. It now has 258 students from Tibet(西藏). The students leave their parents in Tibet and come to study in Zhuhai. The school is about 3, 000 km away from their home. It's really hard for them to live a different school life. 

Luckily, Chen Geng makes the school another home for these students. Mr Chen is a teacher of Xizang classes at the middle school. He cares a lot about his students. Because of the long journey(旅程), the students only go back to Xizang during the summer holidays. At other times, they just stay at school when other students can go home. To make his students feel better, Chen often spends time with the children, even at Spring Festival. 

Chen usually gets to school at 6:30 in the morning. He does morning exercises with the students first. Breakfast begins at 7, and the reading lesson starts at 7:15. He also goes to the students' dormitories(宿舍) after school to see how everything is going. Every month, Chen takes the students to visit museums or other places in Zhuhai in their free time.
