Xing Bin is a 47-year-old teacher in Linyi University in Shandong province. He has worked there for 19 years. At the end of 2022, he experienced the work of a delivery rider (外卖骑手). More than half a year later, he shared his understanding and thoughts online, which quickly caused heated discussions.

Xing Bin was so interested in the life and work of a delivery rider that he decided to be one from December 22nd to January 20th. During the month, Xing worked more than 10 hours and took 30,000 steps a day. He lost 6 kilograms and made a total of 7,000 yuan. On average, he made 10 yuan each hour, and 20 yuan at most.

"During that month, I tasted the bitterness (苦难) and the happiness of this job with my heart," Xing said. "I delivered over 2,000 orders, and three deliveries impressed (使印象深刻) me a lot. One took place late at night when I delivered food to a village where there were no streetlights. The couple who ordered the food were afraid that I would get lost in the middle of the night. So they used a flashlight to walk me out of the small village to the main road."

Xing now understands the difficulties of delivery workers better and realizes how hard they work to make a living. "I also hope that more people can understand delivery workers and show more respect towards them," he said. "I will continue to try different jobs every year in the future."

While the start of a new school year is always exciting, this year was even more so for some elementary school students in Auckland, New Zealand. They became the world's first kids to be "taught" by a digital teacher, just like in the science fiction. Before you start imagining a human-like robot pacing around the classroom, Will is just an avatar(化身) that appears on the students' desktop, or the smartphone screen, when ordered to come.

The autonomous animation platform has been modeled after the human brain and nervous system, allowing it to show human-like behavior. The digital teacher is assigned to teach Vector's "Be sustainable with energy"—a free program for Auckland's elementary schools.

Just like the humans it replaces, Will is able to instantly react to the students' responses to the topic. Thanks to a webcam and a microphone, the avatar not only responds to questions the kids may have, but also picks up non-verbal cues randomly. For instance, if a student smiles at Will, he responds by smiling back. This two-way interaction not only helps attract the students' attention, but also allows the program's developers to monitor their engagement, and make changes if needed.

Nikhil Ravishankar believes that Will-like avatars could be a novel way to catch the attention of the next generation. He says, "I have a lot of hopes for this technology as a means to deliver cost-effective, rich and educational experience in the future."

The program, in place since August 2018, has been a great success thus far. Ravishankar says, "What was fascinating to me was the reaction of the children to Will. The way they look at the world is so creative and different, and Will really captured their attention. However, regardless of how popular it becomes, Will is unlikely to replace human educators any time soon."

 On Oct 11, robot history was made when Ai- Da, a human- like robot artist talked at a meeting in the UK. The topic for the meeting was"A Creative Future".

 Ai- Da paints using cameras in her eyes and robotic arms. She" thinks" and answers questions using AI algorithms (算法). She has painted the UK queen and had her work presented in galleries(画廊).

 Describing herself, Ai- Da told people at the meeting that"I am a robot and I depend on computer programs and algorithms" and" although not alive,I can still create art". Amusingly, at the meeting, Ai- Da" slept"— it shut down and had to be restarted. But her ability to answer questions in real time shows the huge developments of AI. These are developments that will continue.

 One person who seems interested in this is Elon Musk. He is planning on creating his own AI robots for his company, Tesla. Musk presented Tesla's human- like robot, named Optimus, at Tesla's AI Day on Sept 30. Tesla showed videos of their robot doing simple tasks like carrying boxes and watering plants, said CNN.

 With robots becoming more and more part of our daily lives, we may have to learn to live with them. But will people be happy to have these robotic friends or will they feel threatened(威胁的) by them? As Ai- Da said," Technology can be both a threat and an opportunity."

The Grand Canal(大运河), or Da Yunhe, is the world's longest man-made river. It includes three parts, and the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal is the most important one.

It is about 1,800 kilometers long from Beijing to Hangzhou. After running for more than 2,500 years, the canal has become one of the most popular places for tourists.

Last year, all of the canal's dried- up parts were refilled (重新注满) with water. The local government says the 62-kilometr e boat trip will be open to more people soon. It will offer travelers a chance to enjoy nice food and natural wonders at the same time. Moreover, travelers can learn about the culture and old stories through the tour.

The best part along the canal is a group of old buildings in Tongzhou District, Beijing. These buildings cover an area of over 15,000 square meters, including a famous Confucius temple(孔庙). Built in the Yuan Dynasty (朝代), the temple has a history of around 7 centuries. Plenty of travelers enjoy taking photos among those red walls and grey tiles(瓦片) and they feel like they go back to the old times.

Cats or Dogs? Both cats and dogs are popular pets. Most families, however, can keep only one pet. It can be hard to decide whether to take a cat or a dog into your home. Here, some middle school students are having a cats VS. dogs debate（辩论）.

We think cats are better for most families. Many people want to keep a pet, but they live a busy life. Cats don't have to be taken outside to use the bathroom. Instead, they just use a litter box. Their owners only need to keep the litter box clean. They don't need to worry if they are away at work for most of the day. They never have to run home from work early in order to walk their pet.

④Also, team sports help kids learn to manage(管理) their time. Kids who play sports have to fit in school, practice, and games. They know obeying discipline(纪律) is really important by doing teamwork. This teaches them to understand what the most important thing is and use their time well.

⑤Finally, being on a team is good for making friends and getting closer to people they have already known. For many kids, their teammates are like a second family.

⑥So, team sports are really important for how kids grow up. They help their bodies, minds, and social life in ways that can make their whole life better.
