The first kind of friends is simply （仅仅） acquaintances ( 熟人 ), and all you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friends at school, at work, or on the bus, but you don't miss them when they're not around. When this kind of friends do something bad, you don't tell them. That is why they are called "pest friends".

The second kind of friends could also be called "social （社会的） partners". They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little about what they like or dislike, and a little about their family histories; you usually have a few things in common, but you don't talk about any-thing deep, such as your wishes or fears （害怕） , and they don't open up to you how they really feel.

The last kind of friends, the "best friends", are the people you know the deepest. You're like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other's houses, and you share your deepest feelings and thoughts. They will correct you when you're wrong, and though they may not be perfect, they at least will always care about you, and never do anything on purpose（故意地） to hurt you.

We all have our pest, guest, and best friends. We should value( 重视 ) all friend-ship and remember, all best friends start out as just acquaintances.

When you're not at home, many worries may come to your mind. Did I turn the light off? Did I lock (锁) the door? With a smart home, you can keep away from all of these worries in the future.

A smart home is a home with a network(网络).The network connects(连接)with lights and TV sets, so that people connect them from far away by lines, mobile phone or WiFi over the Internet.

More and more people may want to have a smart home, because it makes life much more convenient. It can help keep your room at a certain temperature. It can record what happens inside your home and send the video to your phone. When you are on holiday in other countries, you can use a smart home controller to turn on or off the electricity when necessary. Some smart homes can receive a visitor, make him come in and service him a drink. They can even feed the cat and water the plants.

Besides, smart homes are easy to fix. When a problem happens, you can deal with it yourself. However, for home-users, the smart home is not perfect. It can be rather expensive to have it. Also, because the smart home system (系统)makes its owner to get home information from anywhere, hackers(黑客)may enter into the smart home easily, and they may use or change their information in the system. Now, many people are excited at the future of the smart home.

There are others who worry that the smart home will make people lazier and lonelier. But anyway, one thing is for sure--the smart home will change the way we live and work.

The businessman smiled. He told his son that one feels pain only when the fruits of labor are wasted. The son realized the value of hard work. He promised not to be lazy any more. 

Speaking of respecting the elderly, the first Chinese festival that comes to your mind might be the traditional Double Ninth Festival. The festival is celebrated {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year. The festival {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（know） as Chongyang Festival, too.

One of the main {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （tradition） during the festival is mountain climbing. People get together with their families and friends to hike up mountains to "stand high and see far". This has been a Chinese tradition since ancient times.

Traditionally, the festival is also a time to drink chrysanthemum wine（菊花酒）, eat Chongyang cakes {#blank#}4{#/blank#} wear cornels（茱萸）. The chrysanthemum wine is not only a delicious drink but also believed to be good for health. People also believe that cornels can help to drive out the bad spirits and bring good luck.

However, the Double Ninth Festival is not just a time for climbing mountains and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（enjoy） the autumn scenery. More importantly, it is a time to show respect for the elderly.

As nine is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（big） single-digit（个位） number, and its pronunciation sounds the same as "long" in Chinese, the festival shows people's wish for all the elderly to live a long and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （health） life. So the day is also seen as a chance {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （care） for and express thanks to the elderly. Families usually come together and show respect and love for their elder relatives. People may also visit {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （they） grandparents or elderly neighbors, bringing gifts and sharing meals.
