Mr.and Mrs.Jones had a drive in the country and saw an old woman there.She had some beautiful oranges. "The oranges are quite cheap，" Mrs.Jones said.Mr.Jones stopped the car，and his wife got out and bought ten oranges.Then they talked to the woman.She said， "Come and have tea with my husband and me in our hut."

They had some tea and cakes，and then Mrs.Jones said to the woman， "Your oranges are really sweet.Why are they so cheap？" The woman smiled and replied， "We live in the country，and nobody lives near us.We like talking to people，but nobody stops here.Then we put those cheap oranges there，and now a lot of people stop.I bring them home.We talk and we are happy."

Jamie was tired. She had stood and walked around for hours. Her mom owned a small but busy restaurant in town. Three of her mom's employees（员）felt s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} and asked for leave that morning. There was a big festival in the city park that day,and Jamie wanted to go. But her mom asked for her h{#blank#}2{#/blank#} at the restaurant. 

All Jamie wanted to do was to sit down for a while. H{#blank#}3{#/blank#} ，she hurried around the restaurant,taking orders and refilling coffee cups. As soon as one table was cleared, a n{#blank#}4{#/blank#} set of customers walked in. The customers just kept coming！That meant more orders,more coffee and more working around. 

"Order up！"called the cook from the kitchen. Jamie stared at the kitchen. She thought about all of the food stalls at the festival. Cooks there were p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} special foods from all over the world. Jamie imagined the delicious smells of foreign foods. 

"Hurry,Jamie！"the cook called,catching Jamie lost in thought. 

"I'm coming,"Jamie replied. But her mom had a{#blank#}6{#/blank#} taken the plates of hot food from the counter and delivered them to a table by the window. 

"Wake up,Jamie,"her mom said. "I know you don't want to be here,but I need you. "

A{#blank#}7{#/blank#} such a long and tiring day,Jamie really felt how busy her Mum was.

My name is Miaomiao. I come from China. Chinese food is really delicious. We eat rice, noodles, vegetables and meat. They are very healthy. My favourite food is noodles.

In China, people often eat with chopsticks and sometimes they use spoons. It's not polite to point at someone with your chopsticks. And you shouldn't take the last piece(块) of food from a dish for yourself. You can give it to another(另一个) person.

When your bowl is empty, some people will give you some food. You should leave(留下) some food in your bowl when you are full. And you can't put the chopsticks on the top of your bowl. You should put them on the bowl next to you.

Do you like Chinese food? The eating habits are really different.

A young man goes to see a doctor. The man looks strong but tired. He says he can't sleep well every night. He is very worried. The doctor examines（检查）him carefully. But there is nothing wrong with him. The doctor says,"Don't worry. You can count from one to ten again and again. Keep doing that until you fall asleep. "After a few days, the young man comes to see the doctor again. He looks a little angry. "Doctor, it doesn't work, "he says. "I count every night. But every time I count to eight, I jump from the bed. ""But why?"the doctor asks. The young man answers, "I'm a boxer. "

Each year there is an increasing number of cars on roads and streets. That's because millions of new cars are produced. One out of every six Americans work at  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(put) together the parts of cars, driving trucks, building roads or filling cars with gas. American won't live {#blank#}2{#/blank#} cars!

Most Americans find it hard to think  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} life would be like without a car.  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , some have realized the serious problem of air pollution by cars. The polluted air is poisonous and dangerous to health.

 One way to get rid of the  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(pollute) air is to build a new kind of car. That's what several of the large car factories are trying to do now. But to build a clean car is easier said than {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(do). Progress in this field has been slow.

 Another way is to take {#blank#}7{#/blank#} place of the car engine by something else. Engineers are working on some new cars. Many makers believe that it will take years to develop a practical model that pleases man.

 But this change does not come {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(easy) — a large number of workers may find themselves without jobs if a car factory closes down. And the problem of air pollution would become {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(important) than that of unemployment.
