Some people are very careful about everything they do. On the other hand, some people, especially teens, do things without thinking too much about the results. Why is this? 

Anna, a psychologist uses computer games to find out why some people are more likely to take risks. In one game, players are asked to click(点击) on a balloon on a computer screen. Every time they click, the balloon gets bigger. The bigger the balloon is, the larger the prize will be. But if the balloon gets too big, it'll be broken and the player will get nothing. 

Anna found that when teens played this game, a part of their brain called the striatum (纹状体) would become more active. It makes teens want to win. Another part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex (前额皮质), helps them control their decision-making process. 

It turns out that young people have more striatums and less prefrontal cortexes, which affects their ability to make careful decisions. You might have already guessed that teens break more balloons during the game than adults – mainly because they like to take risks more and don't take the time to think carefully. 

"The teen brain is like a car with a very strong engine, " Anna said. "Its brakes (刹 车) just don't work as well. "

People at some time feel life is stagnating (停滞的) and think life is not very exciting.

Then, they need to do something to improve the quality of life. Life is what people make it. So, read the list of things to do now to make life better and more enjoyable.

Help Others

One of the best ways of creating positivity is to help other people. Those who often help others do feel good about themselves, and other people will benefit from involvement (参与). They can offer help in a shop or in the old people's home.

Take Up a Hobby

Hobbies are great because they can give people something different to do. When someone leads a boring life, it is great to have something to think about. It will take him into another world. They love to read, spending time just sitting with a book and losing themselves in an imaginary world.

Learn a Skill

A great way to learn a skill is to join a class. Not only will they learn a skill, but also they will make new friends in the class. Whether they are going to learn to cook or play a musical instrument, there is always a class near their homes.

There is a great shop in Linda Tutt High School in the USA. It's not the same(相同的) as other shops. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} That sounds very interesting,right?

The shop sells things to the students three days a week, from Monday to Wednesday. Every Tuesday,the shop is open to other people for one hour. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Because of the shop,many people in need get help. The students in this school learn a lot,too. What a great shop!

Do you know the Monkey Buffet Festival in Thailand? It is on the last Sunday of November. It is a great day for monkeys in Thailand. The festival has a history of about 35 years. People there think monkeys can bring good luck to them. So, to thank monkeys, they have this special festival. 

On that day every year, people put lots of fruit, vegetables, cakes and even drinks on tables outside. They are all for monkeys. Many people come to see monkeys on that day. 

During the festival, there are a lot of interesting activities about monkeys. Young people always dress like monkeys, and they sing, dance and play some music on the streets. 

Monkeys always live in groups. Most of them live in the trees. They are good at running and jumping. They eat fruit, vegetables, plants and birds' eggs. Monkeys are clever. Do you think so?

A true friend is someone who helps you and cares about you. This idea is something that people all around the world {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(believer) for a long time. In ancient China, poets wrote many beautiful poems {#blank#}2{#/blank#} friendship.

 Today, we keep in touch with our friends in many different {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(way). We can send texts, messages, emails or make phone calls {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(talk) to them whenever we want. Social media platforms like WeChat also allow us to share our lives with friends and see {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . they are doing.

 Of course, we still sometimes meet up with our friends in person. We might go to a park, a mall or just hang out at {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they) houses. These face-to-face interactions(互动) are important {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they help us build stronger connections with our friends.

 No matter how we stay in touch, we are always there for our friends when they need us. We might give them advice. lend them {#blank#}10{#/blank#} shoulder to cry on, or just be there to listen.
