Visiting a Spring Bud School

Last week, we had an unforgettable experience when we visited a Spring Bud School and organized activities for the children there. 

A man and his wife were very poor. They kept hoping for new clothes and good food. The man enjoyed eating and he especially liked pancakes. One night a young woman came to their house and told them that she would let them have three wishes. They could wish for anything they wanted.

The man had just finished eating a little bread for his dinner and he was still hungry. He said,"I wish I had a big pancake!"

Suddenly there was a pancake on his plate.

"You fool!" his wife cried. "You could wish for a house full of wonderful food, but you wished for a pancake. I wish that pancake was on the end of your foolish nose."

Immediately (立即) the pancake was on the end of the man's nose.

Then the man and his wife started blaming (责备) each other. "It's your fault!" the man cried. "No, it's your fault!" she answered. What could they do? The pancake was still on the husband's nose.

"Oh!" the wife cried. "I wish none of this had ever happened!"

Immediately the pancake was gone, and the man was saying, "I'm still hungry. How I wish I had some pancakes!"

But of course nothing happened.

 Have you ever decided what you want to do when you were a little child? Sounds impossible, but I did it.

 When I was in third grade, I watched a special video. I still 1 the video, because the details(细节) of the video 2 influenced me. And since then, I have known what I wanted to do with 3 life.

 As a result, I4 what I wanted to be at nine, and I made it happen. Seems easy, right? Not quite! The road was difficult. I did my studies--university, then a PhD.5 along the way I was told many things: I was too young. wasn't qualified(具备资格). I should get married and have6 . I also needed money so I asked for six grants(拨款): The first 7 replies I got said no. Six months later, the last reply came. This time it was yes.8 , I could start my own research.

 Today,I'm9 to work as an archeologist(考古学家). That makes me have a sense of pride. I study the lives of people who lived in ancient Egypt. It's an exciting 10 . The feeling of holding a piece of history is an amazing feeling. I feel rather 11 .

 For anyone thinking about his 12 , I would say: Never give up. If you want to do something, keep trying. If people say"no" to you, don't give up, and use that- - it will 13 you. At the beginning, it hurts. But the next no hurts a little less. It makes you 14 and actually helps you. Second, focus on your dreams. You don't have to follow15 . If they say something has never been done, make it happen.
