In 2014, when I was well again after a serious illness, a friend invited me to a writer's meeting in Orlando, Florida. My family thought that a1 might be just what the doctor suggested, so I went off.

    I was tired when I arrived in the Sunshine State. I caught a taxi to my hotel. The next morning, I took2 taxi to the shopping centre to buy something, later after shopping I went to a lovely restaurant 3 lunch,4there were no more tables. Then I heard a friendly voice, "You can 5 my table." I thankfully sat down with the6lady. We had a happy lunch together. At the end of the 7she asked me how I would plan the holiday in Orlando. I8her that I didn't have a car. I would take taxis to go out though it was a bit 9 . Hearing that she said, "My dear, don't use any more taxis. I'm retired (退休) and free. I am glad to10 you to any place you wish." I told her that I couldn't put her into that11, but she didn't agree. She asked me where I was12 and the next morning, she came to my hotel and took me to Disney World. She stayed with me for some time and then 13me alone. At the end of the day, she returned to take me back to my hotel. I gave her money but she didn't take any.14 the help of her, I enjoyed my trip there. I'll never forget 15 she did for me. She made my short holiday in Florida such a wonderful memory.

    My father was a self-taught mandolin(曼陀林琴) player. He was one of the best players in our town. He could not1music, but if he heard a tune(曲子) a few times, he could play it. When he was young, he was a2of a small country music band. They played at local dances and played for the local radio station on a few occasions.

    At home Dad often took out his mandolin and played for the family. We three children sang along.3played the mandolin like my father. He could4your heart with the music that came out of that old mandolin. He seemed to shine when he was playing. You could see his5in his ability to play so well for his family.

    But Dad had to find another6in a factory later because the money he made at the band wasn't enough to7the family. Unluckily he had an8one day and lost one finger. He couldn't play as9as before. From then on, every time we asked him to play, he would make up excuses to 10 down our request. However, we missed his performances so much.11, he agreed and said, "Okay, but remember, I can't hold down the strings (琴弦) the way I12 to."

    When he played the old mandolin, it carried us back to a13, happy time in our lives. Dad was that kind of man,14 was what he was doing all his life. If he could give 15 to others, he would, especially his family. He was always there, sacrificing(牺牲) his time to see that his family had enough in their life.

My school has really been a fun place for me to learn and grow.

Cui Chenxi, a 14-year-old girl, finished the women's skateboarding street final (滑板女子街式决赛) in fourth place at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on July 28th. It achieves China's best result in the sport since it was 1 to the Games three years ago in Tokyo. 

Cui2 Jinan, Shandong Province. She has always been interested in sports. She tried her hand at 3 sports: football, basketball, and table tennis. But4 it was skateboarding that won her heart. 

Cui only began skateboarding in 2020. Her father 5 her to try skateboarding. Then she fell in love with it. Within a year, she began winning6 at professional-level(专业级的) events. In 2022, she got third place in the women's street event at the Shandong provincial (省级的) games. She soon joined the provincial skateboarding7 . In 2023, she made history by becoming China's 8 -- ever Asian Games medalist after winning gold in the street skateboarding event in Hangzhou. 

But it is not easy to make so much9 in such a short time. Cui has always been working hard and learning from other skateboarders. "When I started skateboarding, I thought it was great fun. Later, I 10 that most of the time, getting hurt is just part of the process. But that is where the spirit of skateboarding lies. " she added.
