Debbie got up early last Saturday morning. She wanted 1 in Green Park with some of her friends. She was very happy about it.

    2  she was ready， she got on her bike and left for the park – it was on the other side of the town. Suddenly， as she was riding fast， she 3  sirens (警笛). The sound of the sirens was getting 4 ， so Debbie looked 5  her to see what was happening. As a result (结果)， she fell off her bike and lay in the middle of the road. Jin Ying , 25, is a lover of 1 Chinese Medicine (TCM). She took part in a 2 training course on acupuncture and tuina (针灸推拿) in the winter of 2023 at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. 

Jin's life has been different since the training. She 3 her life habits after learning the Five Elements theory (五行学说). For example, she avoided sweating too much during exercise in winter 4 the cold of winter means people should slow down, according to TCM. For 5 , learning these skills and theories was not about becoming a TCM doctor but rather about having a new lifestyle.

Before she had drunk half the bottle, she found her head pressing against the ceiling (天花板), and had to stop to save her neck from being broken. She hastily put down the bottle, saying to herself, "That's quite enough. I can't get out at the door. I hope I will not grow any more."

However, it was too late to wish that! She went on growing, and growing, and very soon she had to kneel down on the floor. In another minute, she tried to lie down with one elbow against the door, and the other arm curling round her head. Still she went on growing. She put one arm out of the window and one foot up the chimney, and said to herself, "Now I can do no more, whatever happens. What will become of me?"

Luckily for Alice, the little magic bottle had now had its full effect, and she grew no larger. Still it was very uncomfortable, and there seemed to be no chance for her to get out of the room. She felt unhappy. 

"It was much pleasanter at home," thought poor Alice, "when one wasn't always growing larger and smaller, or being ordered by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit hole!"

"But it was rather curious (不寻常的). I wondered what would happen to me! When I used to read fairy tales, imagined that kind of thing never happened! There should be a book written about me! And when I grow up, I'll write one…but I'm grown-up now," she added, "at least there's no room to grow up any more in here."

"But then," thought Alice, "will I never get any older than I am now? That'll be a comfort, but I will always have lessons to learn! Oh, I shouldn't do like that!"

In Cixi, Zhejiang province, every family was enjoying the May Day holiday. A middle-age d man put down his chopsticks and went out with a tool bag, leaving his wife at home. He is Qian Haijun who was honored the title of "Model of the Times" on May 6th 2022.

Qian Haijun is a worker who deals with electric problems. In the past 23 years, he has spent all his spare time in helping a number of families with electric problems. Qian Haijun has made 500 cards with his name and telephone number and handed them out so that people would know who to call when a problem comes. He answers every call at any time and values them very much. People often say he not only lights up the rooms, but also lights up their hearts. He also pays much attention to the group of elderly people over 60 who live on their own. He realizes that the elderly need companionship（陪伴） more than anything else. Over the past few years, he has become the"good son" of more than 100 elderly people. 

His stories were made into a mini movie, and even the Ningbo and Cixi Volunteer Service Centres are named after him. Under his leadership, more than 1200 volunteers have joined the project for the disabled, covering places like Zhejiang, Tibet, Guizhou and Sichuan. And they have provided help more than 30000 times. 

"I am a common person, I will never think about stopping offering help to people in need, and Iwill try my best to bring beauty to the world", he said. 

My grandfather often said "I won't" to show his dislike of dishonesty. When he was young, he worked as a furniture maker. One day, a neighbor invited him to make some furniture. When arriving, he noticed the wood provided was a little 1 , so he said, "I won't start right away. " He chose to let the wood dry for a month. He knew working with wet wood could cause 2 later on. 

Around the same time, another furniture maker was also asked to do a 3 job by a different family. Unlike my grandfather, he 4 working right away. As a result, the neighbor started doubting my grandfather, thinking he was trying to make more money by5 the work. However, my grandfather waited 6 . He wanted the best quality for the furniture he was making. 

A month later, the other furniture maker received his money and went back home. My grandfather began to make strong and beautiful furniture when the wood was completely dry. A few months passed and the furniture made by that other maker began to break. The neighbor then regretted 7 my grandfather and said sorry to him. People came to understand his 8 and skill, spreading his fame far and wide. 

Influenced by my grandfather, my father also follows the 9 of "I won't". He always provides the freshest food, which makes his restaurant very popular in town. Once, when a trade r wanted to sell some cheap but smelly seafood to my father, he said "No!" and stopped the business. 

Now, my brother and I 10 in mind what our grandfather and father taught us. Through ups and downs in life, we've come to deeply understand our family value behind this saying—— to be truthful and honest.
