Students usually go to school in different ways. In our school, most students get to school between7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Some arrive on foot, and some take the bus. However, eighty percent of the students arrive in their parents' cars. The entrance (入口) to the school is crowded and dangerous. I think cars are the main problem. I think there are a few things we can do.

First, we should encourage students to take the bus or walk to school. Taking the bus can help cut down air pollution. Walking is healthier, too. Next, what should parents do if their children have to come to school by car? I think their parents should park their cars far away from the school entrance. For example, they can park their cars at the end of the street. Finally, in my opinion, when parents park dangerously in front of the school entrance, they will be punished and have to pay some money — a fine. This way, they will be cautious and think twice before parking.

In a word, cars are making it dangerous for students to enter the school safely. Therefore, encouraging students to walk to school, or asking parents to park away from the school gate could solve this problem.

 The capybara, a kind of animal from South America, is the largest living rodent(啮齿目动物) in the world. It lives along the lakes and rivers. It can grow up to about 1.3m etres long and weigh up to 79kg. It looks like a large mouse with a big nose, strong legs, small ears and a very short tail. Usually mouse-like animals may not be welcomed by other animals but the capybara always has a lot of different animals around it, because it's friendly to them. Do you know what makes the capybara such a friendly animal?

 As the largest rodent animal in the world, the capybara has only a few enemies(敌人). Because of this, it spends most of the day swimming in the water and lying by the river, together with other animals. It lives such a comfortable life that nothing seems to make it worry.

 For most animals, it's safe to stay around the capybara. The capybara never eats meat. It mainly eats fruit and some plants, so it won't hurt other animals. The capybara can even help other animals to keep safe. It can notice the danger more easily and the strong legs can help it run away more quickly. When other animals see that, they can also hide(躲藏) themselves in time.

 Sometimes, the capybara is happy to be"the animal bus". It's common to see other animals riding on the back of a capybara. That's because these animals can help make the capybara clean by eating the lice(虱子) on its body.

 Now the capybara is also becoming popular among people. Some people love the capybara so much that they want to keep it as a pet.

There are many deserts on the earth. And here are some facts you may find interesting. 

What are deserts like?

Deserts can be hot and dry places. Rain may not fall there for months or years. Some deserts are sandy and stony (多石的). Deserts can also be very windy places. The wind can change the shape of the deserts. It moves sand around from place to place. 

Temperatures in the deserts can vary very much. During the daytime, the temperature may reach 40℃ even in the shade (阴凉处). At night, deserts can become very cold. In winter there may even be a frost(霜冻) in the early morning. 

Living in the deserts

The camel is sometimes called"the ship of the desert". It stores food in its hump (驼峰) and can go for days without water. It has large feet which help it not to fall into the soft sand. Its long eyelashes keep out the sand during sandstorms. 

An oasis is an area of the desert where water may be found. The water may be in pools or under the ground. People and animals visit an oasis to find something to eat and drink. Plants grow at an oasis. Some farmers are able to grow crops there. 

The Arabian Desert

The Arabian Desert lies between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. In some parts of the desert, it is too hot for people to live. Oil was discovered under parts of the desert. This oil has made some countries in the area very rich. Much of the money has been spent building fine cities with lovely parks and lakes, and people live a comfortable life there.
