Little George lived in a poor village. One summer day George's mother sent him to the field to pick up some dried wood for the fire.

George worked very hard. By the time the sun was high, he was very hot and wished for a cool place to rest and have some food. As he walked along, he found some shade, and by it were some fine, wild strawberries. "How good these will be with my bread and butter," thought George. He picked up all of the strawberries. As he was lifting the first strawberry to his mouth, he remembered his sick mother, alone in her dark, cold room in the village.

With this in mind, he put the strawberry back. "Shall I save them for her?" he asked himself.

He thought how refreshing they would be for her, yet was still looking at them with a longing eye.

"I will eat half, and take the other half to her," he said. He divided them into two heaps(堆), but each heap looked so small. He put them together again.

"I will only eat one," he thought.

But, as he again lifted it to his mouth, he saw that he had taken the finest, and he put it back.

When the sun was beginning to sink, George set out for home. How happy he felt that he had all his strawberries for his sick mother.

He heard his mother's faint voice calling him, "Is that you, George? I am glad you have come back. I am thirsty, and I want some water."

George ran to her and joyfully offered his wild strawberries.

"And you kept them for me, didn't you?" said she, laying her hand softly on his head, with tears in her eyes.

Could the eating of the strawberries have given George half the happiness he felt at this moment?

Sijo Zachariah comes from India and he works in Dubai. Last year, Zachariah returned to India for a wedding ( 婚礼). However, he got stuck ( 困住) there because of COVID-19.

'There was almost no food available in stores," he said. What's going to happen? How are we going to feed ourselves?" From that thought, Zachariah and his father started planting food on the land in front of their house. They took seeds (种子) from all of the fruit and vegetables they could find. Zachariah watched helpful videos online.

In the end, the land didn't just help the father and son. It helped feed people in 20 homes nearby. We also taught our neighbors how to plant. food," Zachariah said. Soon every home was planting food. The hot, wet weather made growing easy.

Zachariah once studied and worked in Wales. One thing he really liked there was the food. It tasted better than food at home. He found the reason the food there was fresh and local. So 'he only planted food that was from his hometown. He also recorded videos to teach others.

Now Zachariah is planning to change his job. He will stop fixing (修理) planes for living. He will plant food. "It' s a big change for me. But this is what makes me happy—helping others and being in nature," he said. 

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Duanwu Festival, has a long history. It is a very important lunar festival in China, together with the Spring Festival, Qingming Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. 

The date of the festival is said to be the date when Qu Yuan passed away—the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Usually the date varies from year to year. For example, it is 22nd June in 2023, 10th June in 2024 and 31st May in 2025. 

Although the Dragon Boat Festival happens on different days, the way people celebrate it is almost the same. They eat zongzi, hold dragon boat races, drink realgar wine(雄黄酒), wear sachets(香囊) and so on. Among all of them, people like dragon boat races best. It's often held in the south of China, where there are lots of rivers and lakes. 

People like this festival very much. 

① Here is the car of the future! This car is very different from today's cars— it is quieter and cleaner. Today's cars have wheels (轮子), but this one does not. It moves like a snail (蜗牛), but it is much faster than a snail!

② This car will use electricity instead of gasoline (电而不是汽油). It can be charged (充电) very quickly from chargers built on both sides of the road. It will also be very easy to drive. 

③ In fact, you won't need to drive it because it will drive itself. You will just need to tell the computer" Go to X" and the car will go there. Also, it will arrive there very quickly, much faster than today's cars. It will also be very safe and comfortable. 

④ It hasn't been put on the market yet. But fifty years from now, maybe sooner, some new roads will have solar energy panels (太阳能电池板). They will store energy under the road and some cars will be able to use it. 

⑤ However, you won't be able to drive a" snail car", even if you're over 20 today. Maybe this is the car of the year 2100, and your grandchildren may drive it.

stress. Scientists will have lots of ideas about the cars of the future. It will be interesting to see what ideas they come up with many years from now.

The first prize in City and People group is p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to Zhao. Min, a 12- year- old student. The picture is about a school girl who is wearing a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (裙子). The girl is{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (保护) her books against the showers on the way to school.
