This is a Chinese fairy tale (童话故事) about the fantastic bird Jingwei.

The Yan Emperor has a younger daughter {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(name) Nü Wa. She is a lively girl and enjoys 

 {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(play) in the sea. One day, she goes to the Eastern Sea {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (find ) something new. As she goes much  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (far) away from the shore (海岸), the water becomes more and more violent(猛烈的). Big waves come one after another. After a serious fight {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the angry sea, the little girl loses all of her strength and drowns (溺水).

After she dies, her soul turns into {#blank#}6{#/blank#} bird called "Jingwei". Unlike usual birds, Jingwei looks like a crow (乌鸦) {#blank#}7{#/blank#}a white beak(喙) and red feet. It makes the sad sound "Jingwei" and gets {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(it) name from the sound. The little bird has a strange habit. It always carries small {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(stone) from the Western Mountains to fill up the Eastern Sea. And Jingwei won't stop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} she feels tired. Why does Jingwei do that? There are many ideas, but no one knows the real answer.

Last year in early summer, I was walking up the hill to my house when I saw two birds, each about 60 centimeters tall, standing on the path. They didn't seem to 1 me until I was right in front of them and then they at once moved 2 into the bushes.

I was quite excited by the idea of two birds making a nest (巢) in my front yard, although I didn't really expect it 3 wild birds don't usually nest so close.

A few weeks later, the birds 4 again. I found them crouching (蜷缩) beside a tree off to the side of the path. As I moved nearer to them, I imagined that they would 5 like they did last time. But 6 they stuck out their heads and made a threatening (威胁的) croaking (呱呱叫) sound. It seemed to warn me not to go any 7 .

I didn't know 8 they were croaking at me until a short time later I made an amazing discovery — they had 9 small baby birds. 

As I moved quietly towards the birds, 10 not to make any sudden movements, they started their croaking again. They straightened their necks forward so they seemed 11 and more threatening. The mother carefully crouched down over the two chicks, and 12 them well in her feathers.

 It was 4:00 in the afternoon. Pam and Myles ran into the house1 and turned on the TV.

" 2 does Crazy Cat do today?I can't wait to see," Pam said.

"I know. He..." Myles 3 when he saw a different show on TV.

"Did you turn to the wrong channel(频道)? " Pam 4 . Then she looked for Crazy Cat on the Internet. "They put it off to next Monday!" she said 5 .

"What?" Myles said. "What do we do now?"6 older brother, Brian, walked into the room. Pam and Myles told him about the 7 news. "I love Cracy Cat very much8 he is like Oscar," Pam said and turned to her fat 9 sitting on the sofa.

"I have a(n)10 ," Brian said and then went to his room. A minute later he11 with his video camera(摄像机). "Why don't you follow Oscar around and12 a Crazy Cat show by yourselves?"

 Pam and Myles looked at each other and13 . Myles took the video camera from Brian. Pam rolled(滚动) Oscar' s14 soccer ball across the floor, and Oscar jumped out of the 15 to run after it. Oscar climbed up the ball and rolled over it. Pam and Myles were happy that the Crazy Cat show could keep going.

Taihang Grand Canyon National Forest Park is a natural wonder. It lies in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} part of Huguan County. There are some sweet springs, silver chains—like waterfalls, deep pools, clear streams, interesting karst caves and forests spreading all over the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

I always remember the journey to go there. In the early morning, we began to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the canyon. At first the canyon was silent. With more and more people coming, the canyon became noisy. There were so many trees and we didn't know most of them. Some signs along the paths told us something about different sights. We heard the loud waterfalls {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we were far away from them. When we got near, we {#blank#}5{#/blank#} cool at once. The waterfalls were high and pretty. We also visited some other sights and had great fun there.

It's 2035. There are three robots in my family— Gina, Greg and Tom. I like them a lot.

 Gina is my 1 good helper. She is about forty cm tall. Her eyes are two cameras, and her feet 2 two wheels(轮子) . She does some cleaning at home. 3 house is clean because of her.

 Greg is a smart robot. He can help us 4 information. And he can speak Chinese and English 5 . Dad loves him. Every morning, Greg 6 hello to my dad. Dad asks him,"What's the weather like today, Greg?" Greg will connect itself(连接) to the Internet(网络) and find the weather report soon. This morning, Greg tells Dad, "It will rain today, Mr. Black. Please bring an umbrella with you." Does Dad take 7 umbrella? Yes, of course.

 What about 8 robot? What does Tom do in my family? He is not tall 9 short. He plays with me. Tom is good at 10 chess. He always wins. He can also dance and play ping-pong with me. With his help, I become smart and strong.
