Do you think Betty can get the job? Why or why not? {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

It was a cold winter morning. My 12-year-old granddaughter, Jayne, sent me messages on the phone every hour during her six-hour drive to our house.

"Grandma, can you put some snow in the fridge (冰箱)? That way, I can feel snow when I get there," she wrote. Jayne lives in the south of Georgia, the US with her parents, so she never saw snow before.

"Yes, I will," I wrote. "There is still some snow on the ground in the yard." And I sent her a few photos of it. However, the weather report brought me bad news. It said the weather would be sunny at noon. This made me feel concerned.

In the afternoon, they finally arrived. Jayne got out of the car first. She ran into the yard and put her hands in the snow. She looked so excited. It was great that the sun didn't come out that day.

"Grandma, the weather is so cold, but I enjoy playing with snow," Jayne said. Then she started to build a snowman. She made two large snowballs first. They were the head and the body. It looked nice. Jayne kept playing outside until her hands got wet and cold. Watching Jayne playing in the snow made me feel warm and thankful.

I still remember the lovely cold day. Small things in our lives can also make us happy.

Technology (技术)for space travel made our life on Earth better in many ways.Let's look at things we wouldn't have without space travel.

·Camera phones

In the 1990s NASA (美国国家航空航天局)made cameras small enough to fit on spacecraft.The technology is now used in cell phone cameras so that we can take selfies.

Sports shoes

There wouldn't be Nike Air trainers if we didn't go to space.The shock-absorbing(减震的) materials of the shoes come from space suits.

·Water cleaning system

In the 1960s,NASA created a technology to clean astronauts' drinking water.It is now widely used to clean water in swimming pools.

·Wireless (无线的)headset

Astronauts could easily get tangled up in wires,so NASA made wireless,hands-free headsets.

Astronauts can then move while talking and listening.

·Dust busters (手持吸尘器)

Astronauts hoped to collect samples on the moon.A company created a tool to help them do that.

The company then used this technology to make the dust buster in 1979.

·Computer mouse

In the past,you needed to type in codes(代码)in your computer to make it work for you.In 1968, a NASA researcher tried to make computers on spaceships easier to use,and this led to the creation of the mouse.

The Longest Railway in the World

Have you ever heard of the longest railway in the world? It's called the Trans-Siberian Railway. This amazing railway is from Moscow in the west of Russia to Vladivostok in the east. It's over 9, 000 kilometers long, which is really, really far!

Imagine taking a trip on this railway. You would see so many different things! First, you would pass through forests. The trees would be tall and green, and you might even see some wild animals. Then, you would enter mountains. The peaks would be snowy and beautiful, and you would feel like you were on top of the world. As you continue your journey, you would come to rivers. The water would be clear and blue, and you might even see some fish swimming in it. 

But the Trans-Siberian Railway doesn't just take you through nature. It also takes you through different time zones(区域). Can you believe that you would cross eight time-zones on this trip? That means you would have to change your watch several times! Imagine waking up in the morning and finding out that it's already afternoon somewhere else on the train. That would be so cool!

One of the most amazing places on the Trans-Siberian Railway is Lake Baikal. It's the deepest and oldest lake in the world. The water is so clear that you can see fish swimming in it from the top. 

And the sights around Lake Baikal are so beautiful that it's like a painting. 

Traveling on the Trans-Siberian Railway is not just about seeing sights. It's also a great way to meet new people. You might sit next to someone from a different country, and you can talk to them and learn about the culture. You might even make some new friends!

So, if you ever get a chance to travel on it, don't miss it! It's an adventure that you will never forget.

How's it going? I'm glad to  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you. Thanks for  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} me about your things. I think we are the same in many ways!{#blank#}3{#/blank#} , I spend much time trying many things like dancing. It's my interest. I also enjoy doing sports in my free time with my brother. We both like tennis best, and my brother is also a member of the school tennis team. I am proud of him. However, sometimes I feel sad about getting bad grades, but I'll work  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than before. 

I'm happy that we'll meet soon. To let you find me quickly when I  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the airport, I will send you a photo. I am tall {#blank#}6{#/blank#} short fair hair. I wear a pair of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . I plan to wear shorts and a T-shirt. And I'll carry my warm coat. I've known you, so we will find each other certainly!

You once {#blank#}8{#/blank#} me, "How do you feel about coming to China?" At first, I feel a bit sad when I leave my parents for some days. I am shy and I even don't know how to talk with{#blank#}9{#/blank#} . I feel nervous because I am not good at speaking Chinese. I hope you can teach me some ways so that I can do things {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a right way in China. I am looking forward to going to China!
