As more information comes out about 10-year-old Cindy Smith's death(死亡), worries about amusement park safety(游乐场安全性) grow. 

Cindy is not the first child who died on an amusement park ride. 25 years ago, the mother of a 14-year-old girl waited to pick up her daughter outside Worlds of Fun. Laura Barry never saw her daughter Rosie alive again. 

"My heart goes out to the Smith family more than they can ever possibly know," said Barry. She is one of the few people who truly know the hurt that family is feeling. 

In 1995, Rosie's mom said that something went wrong on the Timber Wolf the night Rosie died. Police found no evidence(证据). Two men told the police that they saw Rosie standing before she fell out of the car. 

"I couldn't believe that such a thing could happen still and again," said Barry. She believes Rosie's death should have been a wakeup call for amusement park safety.

She finds that not much has changed in the past years. Amusement parks race to build bigger, taller, faster rides. In her opinion, amusement parks just try to bring in visitors and give them the idea that riding is good, safe and fun. She believes that parks should have put safety first. 

There is no exact number of amusement park deaths each year. It is quite low according to some websites. But Barry doesn't accept that. "My daughter was the only person that had ever been killed at Worlds of Fun in all of the years, among all of the thousands and thousands of people that went there. The number doesn't mean anything, you know, because when your child is the one, that's one too many," she said. 

First Man is a picture book, it tells the story of Yang Liwei and his trip to space.

As we all know, Yang Liwei is China's first astronaut to fly into space. Yang was born on June, 21st, 1965 in the city of Huludao, Liaoning province. When he was 38 years old, he took Shenzhou-5 spaceship to space.

To help people get to know the Chinese space hero better and learn about his trip to space, the picture book was born. It is based on Yang's autobiography（自传）Long March to Space. In 2021, One Day in Space, a passage from Yang's book, was included in the seventh-grade textbook in Chinese middle schools.

Yang Liwei left for space at 9:00 on the morning of October 15th, 2003 and came back to the earth at 6:23 on the afternoon of October 16th. During the 21-hour stay in space, he flew around the earth 14 times. With great pictures and simple words, the book tells an exciting story as well as space science in an interesting way. From the book, we know that it is really ____ for people to travel in space. There is no gravity（重力）in space, so people don't feel comfortable. Yang's story tells us that nothing is impossible for a willing heart.

Wu Xiaoxi from the BSTP（北京科技出版社）came up with the idea of writing such a book. "There is a surprise in the book for readers-a picture of a rabbit looking at the moon," Wu says. "China plans to send people to the moon by 2030．We hope to write nice picture books at that time."

Many cities in the world have underground,such as London,Paris,New York and so on.

The London underground opened in 1863 and it is the oldest underground railway system in the world.Beijing subway opened in 1969.On the wall of some stations in Beijing,there are some pictures of blue and white porcelain.The underground in Athens opened in 2000 and some of the stations are like little museums.You can make a special trip just to look at them because they show their cultures.Paris and Moscow are famous for their beautiful stations,but they don't run for 24 hours.While New York subway never closes,so you can take it at any time of the day or night.

Now people like to use this transport because they can avoid the heavy traffic and move between different places of a city quickly.

I walk near my house，and I see a man sitting on the ground，hitting（敲打）some﹣thing with a stone. I ask him what he does. He answers he is hitting some bread. He wants to make food for the birds. The large bread is difficult for the birds to eat，so he hits it into small pieces. 

He does it every night by himself. He doesn't understand why we are interested in the thing he is doing. For him，it is just a small thing. He also leaves（留下）some water here for the birds. 

I ask him why he does this. He says， " It's just something small I do so that the bread won't become litter but food for birds. "I tell his story to my friends. I hope it can encourage（鼓励）many people to start something like this. 

If everyone does such a thing，our world may become good and beautiful. 

Where do our happy feelings come from? It's dopamine (多巴胺) that works as a star in our brains. It is often called the "feel﹣good" chemical (化学物质). When there's an ongoing dance party in our minds, dopamine is the DJ playing music of happiness. 

Dopamine is important not only because it controls our feelings, but also it plays a big role in different parts of our brains and bodies. As for brains, it influences our motivation (动机) and affects our learning and memory to help us keep knowledge for a longer time. As for bodies, it controls our body movement and helps us do actions more quickly, correctly and smoothly. Thanks to dopamine, we are encouraged to explore and learn more fun things, make more plans and want to achieve more goals. 

What can we do to make dopamine come out? It's interesting that everyday activities like exercise and even listening to music can help our brain to make it. Also, when we experience something enjoyable, like eating tasty food or reaching a goal, our brain releases dopamine. Besides, scientists have also found that dopamine isn't just about personal pleasure, but also does something with social interactions. When we talk with others, share a laugh or a bond with friends, our brains will also release dopamine. Dopamine keeps us feeling that it is enjoyable to be with others. 

However, too much or too little dopamine can be knotty, which means the brain's dance is not easy. If there's too much, it might make us feel too excited. If there's too little, it can make us feel a bit sad. Therefore, we should try our best to keep a balanced diet and do regular exercise, which is really important for a healthy and happy brain. 

So, if we find ourselves in a happy moment the next time, we should know that it's not just our heart dancing with joy, but also a wonderful dance of dopamine creating a beautiful ballet of happiness in our brain. Enjoy the dance, taste the joy, and let the chemistry of happiness lift the spirits to right heights!

Both cats and dogs are popular pets (宠物). Most families, however, can keep only one pet. It can be hard to decide to take a cat or a dog into your home. Here, some middle school students are having a cats VS dogs debate (辩论). 

Group A: Donna Walker   We think cats are better for most families. Many people want to keep a pet, but they live a busy life. People don't have to take cats outside to use the bathroom. Instead, they just use a litter box. Their owners (主人) only need to keep the litter box clean. They don't need to worry if they are away at work for most of the day. 

Group B: Gary Hall   No, dogs are better. Just think about why you want to keep a pet. Dogs can bring you lots of happiness. When you go back home from school or work, your dog will always welcome you at the door with excitement. When you walk into your room, you may hardly expect your cat to be too excited about seeing you. What's the point in keeping such a pet?

Group A: Brian Ross   Well, cats usually live longer than dogs. Most cats can live up to 15 years while most dogs only have 13 years on the earth. Isn't it nice to be able to spend more time with your pet?

Group B: Annie Miller   But dogs are more loyal. A dog never leaves its owner no matter what happens. Dogs also keep you safe. If a bad man tries to break into your house, your dog will drive him away with loud barks (吠叫). 

Group A: Paula Lee   Yeah, dogs make so much noise! Some dogs bar k at almost every stranger, but are there so many bad men? Cats, however, are quiet most of the time. 

Group B: Eric Bell   Dogs can be trained well. Cats have claws (爪子) and they are interested in everything. They can cause much more trouble!
