It's 4:30 in the afternoon. School is over. It's time for students to relax.

Look! Some boys are playing soccer and some are playing basketball on the playground(操场). Most girls don't like ball games because they think they are boring. They like to do other sports, such as swimming and dancing. Some girls are swimming in a big swimming pool. In the gym, Maria and her friends are dancing to the music. Some students are singing together in the classroom.And some are telling stories to each other. Who are they? Oh, they are students of Class Four. All the students are having fun after a long day of learning.

Emily and her family talked about their vacation trip. Emily wanted to go to the beach, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Alex, her brother, wanted to go camping in the mountains. At last, they {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (decide) to go to a place, and there, they could do both (两者).

In the afternoon, Emily and Alex started to build sandcastles (建沙堡) by the lake. It was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (enjoy) to feel the sand under their feet and the sun on their faces. But just as they finished their work, it started raining. Luckily, they took {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (umbrella) with them, so they didn't get wet.

That night, the family sat around a campfire (篝火), singing happily. "The trip is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wonder)," said Emily. "I love it!"

What are you going to be when you grow up? Maybe a teacher, a doctor or a scientist? How about an ice- cream taster? There is really a job where you can get paid by tasting ice- cream. And this is what Feng Yuanyuan now does.

Feng Yuanyuan, born in 1995, has worked at an ice- cream company for two years. Her main role is to taste and test ice cream products(产品). Usually she tastes more than ten ice- creams a day, but sometimes she has to taste over twenty ice- creams. After eating one, she needs to wash her mouth with lots of warm water so as to comfort her tongue. Through this taste- testing, Feng makes more than 10,000 yuan a month, more than most of her college classmates. However, a by- product of eating so much ice- cream is that she is getting fat." I need to take exercise every day to keep in shape," said Feng.

" To be an ice- cream taster, a person needs to have a sensitive(敏感的) tongue and he must really like ice- cream. Many people may become tired of ice- cream easily if they have to eat it every day, so a good ice- cream taster isn't easy to find," said Feng.

This cool job keeps Feng Yuanyuan busy but happy. She's also very happy that the company's products sell well." After more than a year's hard work, I can tell if an ice- cream has additives(添加剂) just by tasting it.I hope that in the future I can find out what a product is made from with only one bite," Feng said.

Carnival( 狂 欢 节 ) does not take place only in Louisiana. There are many celebrations around the world. 

In Brazil, the celebration goes on from the Saturday before Mardi Gras(大斋节前的最后一天)to Mardi Gras Day, but in some Brazilian cities the celebration can last seven or eight days. Just like New Orleans, not many important things are decided in Brazil from New Year's Day to Mardi Gras Day because everyone is preparing for or celebrating carnival. Most Brazilian parades have a topic, which could be political or historical. The parades had to have a topic tied to Brazil until 1996. Some cities in Brazil do not have a street carnival, but they might have an indoor party. 

Bolivia has carnival parades( 游 行 )for children and then more parades for adults. The children dress up in costumes and walk in the streets. The adults make traditional dance groups and dance in the streets. But the main part of Bolivia's carnival is getting wet. Almost everyone gets wet from water balloons and water buckets. In Oruru, Bolivia, their carnival is held in the last ten days of the carnival season. People there join in dancing, but their main carnival event is a ceremonial parade that lasts for twenty hours and parades for four kilometers. Over 20, 000 dancers are involved as well as 10, 000 musicians. This parade attracts at least 400, 000 people. 

The carnival in Venice, Italy is often regarded as the most carefully prepared carnival and lasts ten days before Lent( 大斋节). Many events are held in the canals including shows, concerts, dances and water processions. The official ending to the celebration is the party held in St. Mark's Square. 

A man went to the city to sell apples. He met an old man and asked, "How long will it take me {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the city?" The old man replied, "It will {#blank#}2{#/blank#} you. If you go slowly, you' ll get there faster. But if you go fast, it' ll take {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ." The man did not understand but made his horse go faster. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , every time he did, some apples fell out of the basket, so he had to stop and pick them up. After many stops, the tired man {#blank#}5{#/blank#} understood the old man's meaning.

She Zhongqi is a student of Grade 8 in a middle school in Hubei Province. He was highly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (赞扬)for his brave act to save an old man, a local newspaper reported.

On April 13th, 2023, when She Zhongqi was riding to school, he saw an old man lying on one side of the street without any {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (意识). At the beginning, Zhongqi had no idea what to do. He just crouched(蹲下)worriedly {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (在旁边) the man and tried to wake him up. But it didn't work. All of a sudden, he remembered what he had learned at school--CPR(心肺复苏)! Immediately, he did it on the old man at a controlled{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(速度) for about 5 minutes. Luckily, the man started to breathe again before doctors arrived.

Several days later, She's story quickly {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (传播) around the town and a reporter came to interview him. "Zhongqi, you' re so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (乐于助人的)! But what inspired you to do CPR to save others?" With a smile, Norm answered, "Actually, I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (不常) use the skill, but my teacher always {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (教导) us that in a crash situation, time is as {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (珍贵的) as life." Then the reporter put what Norm said in the newspaper and he soon became one of the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (英雄) in his hometown.
