When my brother and I were children, we spent a few weeks each summer in the countryside with our uncle. He was a geologist and loved to go on long {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(步行) to find stones to add to his collection at the university.

One {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(星期六) morning, our uncle gave us two backpacks. "You can help me carry the samples(样本)," he explained. The whole day, we walked around the countryside, and every now and then, our uncle put stones in our bags. We were a bit {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(惊讶的) that sometimes he also took some stones out from our bags, but thought he had just found better samples.

We {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(到达) the house in the late afternoon. The backpacks were so heavy that we were really tired out when we put them on the ground. Yet our uncle's backpack was nearly {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(空).

"Why did you give us so many stones?" we asked.

"I didn't. You did," he said, waiting for a {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(一会儿) before continuing. "You did not know it, but I made you go through a little attitude(态度) test today."

"What do you mean an ‘attitude test'?" we were {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(想知道).

"You see, I listened to every word you said. And if you complained(抱怨) about anyone or {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(任何事情), I added a stone to your bags. But whenever you talked about something in an attitude of positive(积极乐观的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks."

We did. Surely, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(我们的) were full.

"I hope you will {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(记住) this little attitude test and live your life wisely. The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind is.

Hello! My name is Linda and I'm 14 years old. I'm from France. I'm tall and thin. I have long brown hair. And I wear glasses. Now I am studying in the USA. I can speak the local language in France. I can also speak English and a little Chinese. My father, William, is 45 and he has short brown hair. He is from France. He is a teacher. He speaks English and French. My mother, Jenny, is 40 and she has long black hair. She is from China. Chinese is her first language and French is her second language but she also speaks a little English. She is a doctor.

My favorite subject is geography, and my favorite sport is volleyball. My father's favorite sport is soccer and my mother likes playing tennis. My mother and father aren't in the USA. They're at home in Paris. I like my life here in the USA. It's great.

I'm Cameron Davis. I'm 13 and I've visited 45 countries. I have been travelling for as long as I can remember.

Before we left on our first trip, I was very nervous. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (在……期间) the trip, I noticed that if I didn't talk to others, I couldn't make any friends. On my travels I have tried a lot of new things, from {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (高山) biking in Whistler to camel {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (骑行) near the Great Pyramid of Giza! When you travel to certain places, you start to learn about the different {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (文化). I learned to cook Pad Thai in Thailand, ate curies in India, and tried dumplings in China. I learned that food was great in different countries. My trips also {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (教) me how to become more independent. When we {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (计划) to travel, I always had to pack my own suitcase. Also, when we were traveling I saw a lot of families that rally had to depend on each other to live. Now we wash {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (餐具), make our own lunch and more. I don't love these chores but we have learned that this family is like four gears (齿轮); if one stops {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (工作), it is harder for the other three.

The {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (最好的) thing that I've learned about traveling is that sometimes you will have to take risks. When I was in Vietnam, I was playing with a little boy when out of the blue, he bit me. I still have the mark! I learned that there are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (都) good and bad risks. Take the good ones.

Of all the months, I like April best. I love green grass and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (rain) days. The {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (nine) day of April is my birthday. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) very excited. In the morning, I go to a restaurant to have breakfast {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my parents. We eat some chicken and 50. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (sandwich). After breakfast, we have {#blank#}6{#/blank#} rest in a coffee shop on White Street. Then, we go to the zoo. There are many different kinds of animals in the zoo, such as elephants, tigers, lions and so on. I like pandas best because they are {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (friend). Look! Three of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (they) are eating bamboos. Look at the tiger. He {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (look) lonely. Maybe he is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (miss) the forest. We are really happy in the zoo.

My name is Wang Lin and my English name is Linda. I am 13 years old and I 1 No. 1Middle School of my city. I usually 2 at 7 a. m. in the morning. I have breakfast at home, but I have 3 at school. My school is close to my home, so I have to go to school4

We have eight classes every day. I 5 all the classes, because my teachers can make the classes interesting. My  favourite6 is English, so I go to the English Corner every week. After class, I always 7 with my friends. We play basketball, volleyball, table tennis and so on. 

I 8 my home at about 5:30 in the afternoon. When my parents prepare our dinner, I usually practise playing 9 guitar to have some fun. I also love to read some books 10 sleep. I usually go to bed at about 9:30 p. m. 

One day, I went to the store to pick up the next week's food. I had something important to do so I had little time and Ihad to put off shopping for Christmas presents until later in the month. 

When we arrived there, I gave my son a dollar and asked him to give it to a poor man at the door of the store. We  went  in  and  soon  filled  our  cart(购物车)  with  food. Then we walked towards the self-checkout machines(自主结账收款机). I hated using them. I preferred to chat with the friendly cashiers(收银员), but there were too many people waiting there. As I stopped and waited, though, I heard  a  man  at  the  machine  next  to  mine  saying  something  angrily. Every time he put his old, wrinkled(起皱褶的) twenty-dollar bill into the machine, it spit out  （吐出）the bill. I quickly took a newer twenty-dollar bill out of my wallet and gave it to him. He thanked me with a warm smile and paid for his goods. I told him to keep his money but he insisted(坚持) that I should take his old, wrinkled twenty-dollar bill. I agreed, put it in my coat pocket, and wished him a Merry Christmas. 

After checking out, I remembered the saying, "Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you. " I reached into my pocket, smiled, and went outside. Then I gave that wrinkled twenty-dollar bill to another poor person and walked to my car happily. 

In my opinion, we should change the world with our love. It is easier than it looks, too. Just start with the person nearest you.
