The Sixth Time I Went to the Principal's Office

    When I was in the seventh grade, I had problems behaving. My heart was in the right place, but I couldn't always follow the rules. I played many tricks on my schoolmates. Once, I even pulled a girl's hair on the school bus to get her attention. As a result, I was repeatedly sent to the office of the principal（校长）.Although I hated going there, I did not hate the principal, Mr. Ratcliff.

    Mr. Ratcliff was a kind, elderly man. When he spanked（打屁股） me for putting some ants into a classmate's pencil box, it didn't hurt at all, but it did hurt my feelings. I thought so much of him and moments like that seemed to prove I was hopelessly bad.

    When I got called to Mr. Ratcliff's office for the sixth time, I had no idea what I had done. I felt disappointed as I walked down there. I went into his office, sat down, and looked at the floor. Then he said the last thing I expected to hear:" Kevin, I've heard you've been behaving really well lately. I want you to know how proud I am of you, and I just called you down to my office to give you a peppermint."

    "Really?" I was surprised.

    "Yes. Now you can take that peppermint and go back to class."

    I carried the peppermint with me as if it was a gold coin. When I got into my classroom, I bragged （吹嘘） to my classmates about my turnaround, excitedly. I wasn't so bad after all.

    Mr. Ratcliff was really kind. He made me realize that I was just a kid who had problems with behavior. He bought some peppermints and took the time to notice me when I got something-anything-right. Mr. Ratcliff gave me some hope by giving me some love. I will just remember him for the rest of my life.

    Victor's hobby was collecting stamps. He had stamps from many countries, like England, Canada and China. On his birthday, can you guess what people gave him? That's right-stamps.

    Victor's favourite stamps came from France. He had almost every stamp from 1954 to 2004. He only needed one. That was a 1974 special edition. It was very hard to find.

    He looked for it everywhere. He asked his friends and relatives to help him. But nobody could find the stamp. It made Victor very sad.

    "Don't worry. Never give up," his father said to him. If you have enough patience, you'll find it one day.

    "I hope so," Victor said

    Victor also liked writing. He had a penfriend in France. They wrote to each other every month. Victor's penfriend, Phillip, usually used new stamps to send letters. Sometimes, his mother gave him stamps to use. Once Phillip's mother gave him a big, green stamp. It looked old. When Victor received the letter, he was very surprised. On the envelope, he looked carefully at the stamp. It was the 1974 special edition stamp. Victor was so happy. He told his sister, his mother and his father. "You see," his father said. "You did find your stamp. So it's good to have two things in life."

    "What are they?" Victor asked.

    "Friends and patience," he answered.

Life is full of unexpected surprises. Paul was 71 years old and came from England. He liked using a 3D printer to make models.

One day, while Paul was searching for something online, he saw a red car on a website. It was his father's favorite car made in the 1950s. He felt so shocked!

The car brought Paul back to the "good old days". When he was a child, his dad always drove him around London. He sat in the back seat of the red car excitedly. When he went abroad to work, this car took him away from home to say goodbye to his father. To his surprise, many years later, the car showed up online!

Paul decided to buy the car. With his son's help, he bought it. It was a really difficult job to repair the car because it was old and broken. But Paul didn't give up. He spent a long time repairing it. After he tried many times, he finally made the car as good as it used to be with the 3D printer. Paul drove it here and there.

Paul said driving the old car reminded him of his father. The car was seen as a connection between his father and him. It was a treasure for him from the past.

It was sunny last Sunday. I called my classmates and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a bicycle to a farm near a bill A farmer welcomed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in front of his house. The farm was so beautiful. We saw hens, ducks and pigs there. We {#blank#}3{#/blank#} like birds out of the cage(笼子), running around happily. We did many wonderful activities around the farmhouse. Sally tried {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Some apples from a tree. I got to the top of the hill and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} quite a few photos. Tony seemed to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} no interest in these activities. He sat {#blank#}7{#/blank#}a big tree and relaxed. At twelve o' clock, most of us were {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. The farmer prepared(准备) some delicious food for us. Of course, we must pay for it, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we still thanked him. To remember what we did, I wrote down some {#blank#}10{#/blank#} between the life in the city and that on the farm in my diary.

All in all, it was a wonderful day!

I'm Alice，an English girl. I live {#blank#}1{#/blank#} London with my parents and sister. We often have four meals（餐） a day：breakfast，lunch，tea and dinner. On weekdays we always have a quick breakfast. My sister and I only have some bread and then go to school {#blank#}2{#/blank#}we don't want to be late. My father drinks some coffee and my mother {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（have） some salad. We don't have lunch at home on weekdays. My parents have it in the restaurant. My sister and I have it at school. Tea time is usually at about 4：00 pm. We have cakes，chocolate or{#blank#}4{#/blank#}（banana）. 

Dinner is often after 7：00 pm. My parents often give {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（ we） a big meal. I like the food for dinner. There {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（be） chicken，fish and vegetables. After dinner，we often do some sports. My mother usually runs for {#blank#}7{#/blank#}hour with my sister. I play ping-pong with my father at the park. And I'm {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（real） good at it. 

The biggest meal of a week is the Sunday roast（周日烤肉大餐）. It is a{#blank#}9{#/blank#} （relax） time. We have roast beef，lamb（羊肉） and some salad on Sunday afternoon. After that，my sister often eats some ice-cream，but I don't. I don't want {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（get） fat.
