It is not always easy to discover yourself. From a young age, I had a strong sense of who I would become—but an 1 changed everything.

To me, skating was more important than anything else in the world. Nothing else filled my heart with so much joy. I spent twenty-four hours a week developing my skills. I had no 2 life or interests other than skating. But I was rewarded with first place medals in nearly every competition.

Unluckily, during one competition, I fell and was badly injured. The doctor told me that I couldn't skate anymore. The pain in my back was hard to bear and even basic daily tasks became 3 .

My passion (激情) had been taken away. I lost 4 and had no idea what I would become. After eight months of suffering, something had to change. Instead of sitting around and 5 my days, I began to work with local community service projects. By volunteering as a swimming teacher and summer reading assistant for kids, I got an idea of who I wanted to become. After a few months, I found a new interest. Little by little, I stepped out of the shadow and rebuilt my confidence.

Sometimes, challenges in life will get in our way. We can 6 to stay behind or try to get past these challenges. My accident was a challenge that failed to stop me from reaching success. Today, I'm a very confident and optimistic person.

A Discussion

Host: Hello! I'm Gavin from All Talk 970 FM. Welcome to our program. Today our topic is part-time jobs. Are they good for school children or not?

Headmaster: Certainly not. Children have got two full-time jobs already: growing-up and going to school. Part-time jobs make them so tired that they fall asleep in classes.

Mrs. Black: I agree. I know school hours are short, and there's a lot of homework to do, too. Children need enough sleep. 

Mr. Black: Young children perhaps, except some boys, stay at school until they're eighteen or nineteen. A part-time job can't harm them. In fact , it's good for them. They can earn pocket-money by themselves. And they can see something of the world outside school.

Businessman: You're quite right. Boys learn a lot from a part-time job. And we shouldn't forget that some families need the extra money. If the students don't take part-time jobs, they can't stay at school.

Dave is my good friend. We are also classmates. He studies {#blank#}1{#/blank#}at school on weekdays. He gets to school at {#blank#}2{#/blank#}past seven. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#}uniforms. He eats lunch at school. He eats rice, beef and eggs with tomatoes. He can play all kinds of instrument(乐器). Look！He {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the violin. On weekends, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} plays the instrument or does homework. Sometimes he likes to do something {#blank#}6{#/blank#}with me. Last weekend we went to his uncle's farm {#blank#}7{#/blank#}bike. We saw many beautiful flowers {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the way. We also saw some beautiful {#blank#}9{#/blank#} on the flowers. On the farm, there were lots of animals like chickens, cows, horses and so on. Dave {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a horse. I fed chickens . We had fun there.

 Today is Saturday. Zhuangzhuang goes to the zoo with his friends. They see many different animals there. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

 The first one is a lion, and its name is Mona from Japan. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It's brown and it looks strong and ferocious(凶猛). It likes eating meat very much. The No.(第) two is an elephant, Car! is his name. It's gray and it is 12 years old. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} It is so smart(聪明). It can draw pictures and play soccer.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}It's a panda, the national treasure (国宝) of China. It's white and black. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and it is very lazy. It needs to sleep more than 10 hours a day. It likes eating bamboo(竹子) and climbs(爬) trees.

 It's nice to see these animals. Would you like to go to the zoo to see them.

How's it going? I'm glad to  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you. Thanks for  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} me about your things. I think we are the same in many ways!{#blank#}3{#/blank#} , I spend much time trying many things like dancing. It's my interest. I also enjoy doing sports in my free time with my brother. We both like tennis best, and my brother is also a member of the school tennis team. I am proud of him. However, sometimes I feel sad about getting bad grades, but I'll work  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than before. 

I'm happy that we'll meet soon. To let you find me quickly when I  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the airport, I will send you a photo. I am tall {#blank#}6{#/blank#} short fair hair. I wear a pair of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . I plan to wear shorts and a T-shirt. And I'll carry my warm coat. I've known you, so we will find each other certainly!
