Merry Christmas! Christmas is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(wonder) time to spend with all the family. Beautiful decorations (装 饰 物) are everywhere, merry songs {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(play) and the smell of turkey fills the air. When I was little, I always couldn't wait {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Christmas! We would put our decorations up in November. The trees, snowmen and stockings {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(fill) with candies. We would watch Christmas {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(movie), sing Christmas songs and eat mince pies(百果馅饼). But one of my favorite things to do was special to my hometown—I went on the Thomas the Tank Engine Steam train {#blank#}6{#/blank#} met Father Christmas! He would walk down the carriages and hand out candies and toys to all the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(child). Father Christmas comes down the chimney (烟囱) on Christmas Eve to give everyone a surprise. That sounds like a magical story. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(express) our thanks, we leave some cookies and milk for him. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} next morning, the cookies and the milk have gone. And all the presents are under the Christmas tree! We' re all together and enjoy {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(our). It's a really fantastic time!

Last summer I got the chance to spend a month helping out in a hospital in Africa. I had one year left at school, and I was  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(interest) in studying medicine at university.

Working there introduced me to a world that is very different from  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(I) in so many ways. I was shocked(震惊的) that many families over there had such  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}poor and difficult life. But I was also surprised at how positively people spend their daily  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (life). They come together and help each other, and that's something a lot of us here in the UK have forgotten. My work in the hospital  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) hard. Not only did I spend a lot of time cleaning floors, but also I got to spend some time looking after the patients (病人)  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(careful). And I liked  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(talk) to some doctors and asking them about the job. I saw some truly awful(极坏的) things in the hospital,  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}none of them changed my mind about being a doctor. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}fact, they only made me more determined to learn medicine.

 {#blank#}10{#/blank#}I finished the work, I knew what I'm going to do in the future: I want to work for an international organisation like the Red Cross. I can't wait to get started.

A man walked in the desert for two days.1 met a sandstorm during the trip.And then，he lost the sense of direction.While he was unable to hold on，he suddenly found a small old house.There was only some wood inside.He walked to the corner hopelessly，but suddenly2 a water pump（泵）.

He went to draw water（抽水），but he couldn't pump water no matter how hard he tried.He sat on the ground3 .Just at that time，he saw a small bottle with a cork（瓶塞）.There was a yellow4 posted on the bottle，which read，" You must put the water into the pump before you can draw water!Don't5 before you leave，refill（重新注满） it with water!" He pulled the cork and found the bottle was really filled with water!He could hardly believe his luck.

At this moment，he thought，"6 I only think about myself，as long as I drink the water in the bottle，I can be7 to go out of this desert!If I do as the note told，I might be thirsty to death.Will I take the risk or not？"

Finally，he made a8 to do what the note told him and began to draw water with his shaking hands.Sure enough，the water really9 !

After he drank enough water，he filled the bottle with water.He enveloped（封住） it10 the cork and added his words after the note，"Believe me it's really useful.You should learn to pay before you get it!"

Have you ever used the? The Post-it Note is a common Object that is of great use in our every day life. It is not only helpful for students but also a necessary office supply (用品)

The start of the Post-it Note can date back to the 1970s when it was Post-it Note accidentally :前vented by a scientist named George Little. One day, while George Little was working in his laboratory, he developed a special adhesive (粘合剂) by accident that was very sticky but could be easily peeled off without leaving any residue (残留物). Interested in this

discovery, he began doing tests with different materials and designs to create a writable, sticky note that could be easily stuck to and taken off from different surfaces. After having tried several months and failed, he finally came up with the design for the Post-it Note.

The new invention was made of a kind of yellow, writable paper that was covered with the special adhesive. When the Post-it Note was first introduced to the public, it was a quick hit. People quickly realized it could be used in many ways and it brought them great convenience. So the Post-it Note quickly became a popular office supply. Now it has already become an indispensable object in homes and offices around the world No other object can take its place.

Cui Chenxi, a 14-year-old girl, finished the women's skateboarding street final (滑板女子街式决赛) in fourth place at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on July 28th. It achieves China's best result in the sport since it was 1 to the Games three years ago in Tokyo. 

Cui2 Jinan, Shandong Province. She has always been interested in sports. She tried her hand at 3 sports: football, basketball, and table tennis. But4 it was skateboarding that won her heart. 

Cui only began skateboarding in 2020. Her father 5 her to try skateboarding. Then she fell in love with it. Within a year, she began winning6 at professional-level(专业级的) events. In 2022, she got third place in the women's street event at the Shandong provincial (省级的) games. She soon joined the provincial skateboarding7 . In 2023, she made history by becoming China's 8 -- ever Asian Games medalist after winning gold in the street skateboarding event in Hangzhou. 

But it is not easy to make so much9 in such a short time. Cui has always been working hard and learning from other skateboarders. "When I started skateboarding, I thought it was great fun. Later, I 10 that most of the time, getting hurt is just part of the process. But that is where the spirit of skateboarding lies. " she added.
