①There is a famous expression in English:"Stop the world—I want to get off!"It is used when a person is feeling too much pressure and wants to stop whatever he is doing and try to relax."Stress"means pressure and is one of the most common causes of health problems in modern lives. Too much stress results in physical, emotional (情绪的), and mental(精神的) health problems.
②There are quite a few examples of the physical symptoms (症状) resulting from stress. Stress can influence hearts and stomachs. It can make the hearts beat quickly and cause stomachaches. Stress can also cause high blood pressure and can cause a person to breathe too fast.
③Emotions are also easily influenced by stress. People under stress often feel worried or nervous. When people are under pressure, they often overreact to little
problems. For example, a parent under a lot of stress at work may shout at a child for dropping a glass of juice. Stress can make people angry, sad or nervous.
④Long-term stress can lead to some mental illnesses as well. Depression (精神忧郁), for example, is a feeling of sadness and hopelessness. And it might be a result of continued and increasing stress. If it is allowed to continue, one's mental health is at risk.
⑤Stress is a serious problem. It greatly influences our bodies, feelings and minds. So, stop the world, get off and rest for a while when you have to.
Good basic table manners are important because they help make sure that both guests and hosts are comfortable at the table. Table manners are mostly common sense. Here are some rules that will carry you through most common situations.
{#blank#}1{#/blank#} You may have heard your mother say it many times. You should know that no one likes to see the food in your mouth.
Don't make noises while eating. Making noises is not only unappetizing (倒胃口的), but it can also break others' conversation.
Eat food bit by bít. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Don't cut all of your meat at one time. This can remind
people of feeding small children and the mess related to this situation.
Eat at a leisurely pace(悠闲地). This rule shows your host that you enjoy the food and the company (陪伴). {#blank#}3{#/blank#} It shows that you're only paying attention to the food and that you would rather be at home watching the grass grow than spend the time with your host.
Don't stand and reach for food far from you. You are not supposed to get in the way of people either eating or talking. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Don't forget "please" and "thank you". These are useful words in most situations and especially important at the table.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} You don't want people to think that you are tired of their company. If you must leave the table, make your excuses clearly. You want to make people think that you would rather remain at the table talking with them than do anything else, but the matter at hand is so important that it must be dealt with at once.
Compliment(称赞) the cook. Even if the food is terrible, say something nice. It is always pleasant to end a meal in a positive way.
