The American-Chinese Culture Exchange Center (ACCEC) are now looking for some volunteers from middle school for our summer camp from August 20th～30th in 2022.

During the summer camp, 300 students aged from 7 to 10 will fly from America to China to learn about Chinese culture. They will visit some places of interest and learn Chinese as well. We will try our best to provide the best camping experience, so we are looking for "the best of the best" volunteers.

◆ Needed skills: Good at Chinese and English. Patient enough to get on well with children. Active in learning. Always ready to help. Good at communicating with others and work well as a team.

◆ Training: Before the camp, all volunteers need to receive a 10-day training. Learning how to work with the children and how to teach Chinese to them.

Giving hongbao ( red packets ) is a tradition in China . Traditional red packets are 1 decorated with gold Chinese characters (汉字) such as 2 and wealth.

How red packets are used

Today, the Internet is a very good place to make friends. You can use QQ or WeChat to do so. But do take care not to tell everything to others. Take care when you want to meet your net friend. Don't make friends by giving something good to people.

 The nature park is a good place for animals. There is a quite important nature park {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (name) Mai Po Marshes. Every winter, hundreds of birds fly here. They stay here {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a few months because there is enough water and food. Many of the birds are in danger. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (protect) them, the reserve won't allow visitors to come any time. If you want to visit the Mai Po Marshes, you have to call or email theWWF HK. It can offer people the chances to have a trip with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) friends at weekends. You can take photos and go bird-watching.

 And you can also see {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (snake), zebras and other interesting animals. But you can't get close to the dangerous animals {#blank#}6{#/blank#} feed them. Next to the Mai Po Marshes, there is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} interesting park. The environment of the park is like that of the Mai Po Marshes. So animals {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (live) in peace there. It is not as big as the nature park, but you can play {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (happy) in this park. You can also learn something about animals in the park {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you don't have a chance to go to the Mai Po Marshes.

Mangroves are special trees that grow near the sea. They are really good at cleaning the water and helping animals like birds. They can protect the seaside from big waves when there are big storms. They also help fight climate(气候) change by taking in CO₂.

A new center called the International Mangrove Center (IMC) was opened in Shenzhen on November 6^th,2024. The center was built by 18 different countries to protect mangroves. As a vital part of mangroves protection, it will help make rules for keeping mangoves safe. People share ideas on how to take care of mangroves and animals that live there. A professor from Tsinghua University thinks that the center will help people learn more about the mangroves and how to protect them.

 From 2020, Shenzhen has done a great job protecting mangrove forests and the birds living in them. People are not allowed to use streetlights because it may hurt the birds' eyes at night. Shenzhen is showing how to bring back mangoves and make better places for them. It shows that cities can help take care of nature. With the help of the IMC, mangroves in Shenzhen will be better taken care of and grow better.
