ClothesDonation (捐赠) Box

    Have youever put your old clothes into the donation box in your neighborhood? If not,you can do it right now because the clothes donation is becoming a trend (趋势) in Urumqi.

    "Fromtime to time, my mother clears out the clothes which I no longer wear. Youknow, we teenagers are growing fast. I think it's a good way to helpothers." Lin Tao, a junior student says.

    "Ioften pick out some of my clothes which are out of style after going shopping.Then I put them into the donation box." Miss Li, a pretty young lady says.

    "Thatseems like a good idea. Some clothes in the box are quite new. People caneither wear them or usethem to make things such as handbags and pencilcases," Mrs Wang, an old woman says, "sometimes I also look throughthe box for some nice clothes."

    However,there are some problems along with the popularity of clothes donation.Recently, a UTV reporter from Focus on the City has made a survey. Here are theresults:

    Some boxesare full of clothes in a short time. There is no more room for people to giveaway clothes.

    Somepeople sell the clothes in the donation box for making money instead of wearingthem.

    Somecommunities set the boxes in unsuitable places. So there are few clothes in it.

    Manyclothes are too old and shabby (破烂的).

   "What's worse," one of the staff in a community added,"we quite often see people throw rubbish into the box when they pass by.We've tried to stop them several times but failed. It has been the most seriousproblem since we set the box."

    In orderto make the donation box work in an efficient (有效的) way, our government is taking action. Clothesdonation will be better-organized and it'll be more convenient for people inneed to take the clothes away.

For many middle school students, leaving their home towns and studying in a foreign country may sound mad. For me, it's different.

Since the first day I came to school, all the teachers and classmates have been very nice. With their help, I've made much {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (进步) in Chinese learning and got better scores in maths {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(测验;考试). My host families are kind and loving. They regard me as a member of their family instead of a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(客人;宾客), so I'm very satisfied with my host family. They not only {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (提供) me with delicious meals — Oh, I've put on much {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

(重量), haha! — and a comfortable bed, but take trips with me at weekends. We have {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (形成) close friendships. Besides, they invite me to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(庆祝) festivals together. Because of these, I have a better understanding of Chinese {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(文化).

I'm going {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(回到;返回) to my home town this summer, but it's certain that I'll stay in touch with all the people in my {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(名单). I'm sure I'll return one day.

I like reading. I love many different kinds of books, because they not only open my mind but also   {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(鼓励;激励) me a lot.

Up to now I have read a lot of books, such as magazines, storybooks and  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(长篇小说). But one of the books that I like best is The Story of My Life. Helen Keller wrote it in 1903. She was a blind and deaf  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(人). In the book, she wrote that she had not been able to see, hear or speak  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(自……以来) she was one year and seven months old. This unusual thing made her very sad. Luckily, she  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(遇见) her good teacher, Miss Sullivan, at the age of seven. Helen was getting  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(更高兴的) every day. Then, Miss Sullivan helped her learn how to write English words. At first, Miss Sullivan wrote some words on Helen's hands  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(用……) her own fingers again and again. Helen was a very hard-working girl. She tried as much as possible to   {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (记住) words. After that, she wrote many famous works, which was a huge   {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(成功;成就) for anyone like her.

It shows us an important truth: Nothing is difficult if you put your  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(心) into it! This is why I like the book best.

Ben is a good boy. He often 1 table tennis after school. He can play it very well. There 2 one tennis racket (球拍), two tennis balls, three volleyballs and two basketballs in his room. He likes playing sports and he usually plays them on the playground.

One afternoon after school, Ben ran out of his classroom. Ben is 3 to his father. His father waited for him at 4 school gate every day. On his way home, Ben saw some boys skating in a park. He wanted to skate with them, but his father refused and said, "You have no time to skate. You must do 5  homework. After you finish 6  it, I will buy you an ice cream."

Ben's 7 words make Ben finished his homework quickly and got his ice cream. He started to eat it8 a fly (苍蝇) came along. It landed on(落在) the ice cream. Ben's father told Ben to make the fly go away. Ben smiled 9 and said, "You don't let me skate. But the fly doesn't have homework. Can't you let him skate 10 a while(一会)?"

 Joining a school club isn't just about having fun. Students must know that being in a club needs time and needs to do a lot of things.
