 阅读理解

With the development of Chinese and Western cultures, more and more people go to different countries  for  exchanging  and  learning.  So  knowing  more  about the differences becomes so

necessary.

First, Western people express themselves directly, while Chinese act oppositely ( 相 反 地 ). Chinese are implicative (含蓄的) most of the time. When Chinese get angry or unsatisfied (不满的), most of them will say nothing. But if you are unsatisfied with a foreigner, you need to speak it out. Don't hide your feelings because he or she doesn't like it or can't understand your thoughts.

Second, the value about things is different between Chinese and Western people. Chinese seem to be more worried about tomorrow, while Western people like to spend tomorrow's money in advance. Western people believe that they should enjoy themselves at the moment and tomorrow is another day. So they enjoy everything they have now, having no clear plans for the future.

But remember, there is no judgement (评判) about which one is better.When    in    Rome,    do    asthe    Romans    do. We just need to know the differences and learn to understand each other. Every country's culture has its own special meaning. What we need to do is to respect (尊重) each other's

culture and gel along with each other peacefully.

A、Say nothing to him or her. B、Get away from him or her. C、Try to understand him or her. D、Speak out our thoughts to him or her.

A、Foreigners like saving money for the future. B、Chinese people express themselves directly. C、Foreigners would like to spend "today" excellently. D、Foreigners are used to preparing for the future carefully.
(3)、Which of the following explains the underlined sentence "When in    Rome,    do    as the    Romans    do." in the last paragraph?
A、Point out a foreigner's mistakes directly. B、Encourage foreigners to learn our culture. C、Try our best to find the best culture in the world. D、Respect each other's culture and get along with each other peacefully.

Whether you're spending time with family and friends or hoping to catch dinner, fishing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Here are some tips before you start fishing.

Go where the fish are.

Talk to other fishermen to get some tips on locations for fishing. Public lakes, rivers, and ponds are usually your best choice.

If you live on the coast, ocean fishing is a good choice, but you'll need a license(许可证) for ocean fishing.

Find out what people fish for in your area.

Many newspapers have local fishing reports.

Catfish are common river and lake fish all over the United States.

In the south, gar and bowfins are common in swampy (沼泽地的) regions.

In the northwest, rainbow trout are well stocked and common.

If you want to find out what kind of fish are around, throw in some food and wait a few minutes.

 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

In Gansu province, three generations of workers have worked hard to stop desertification.

Babusha,a big sand dune(沙丘) at the edge(边缘) of the Tengger Desert, was a big cause of sandstorms in the 1980s. The desert destroyed farmland and villages in its south, and affected more than 30,000 people. However, with the effort of"the six old men"and their children and grandchildren, now,a green belt, which is 10 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide, has been built.

This project is time-consuning. Guo Chaoming and five other villagers first had the idea of renting 5,000 hectares (公顷) of sandy land to plant trees in 1981. Their original goal was to prevent sandstorms from destroying their crops. At the time, Guo, the oldest of the six, was already 61, while Zhang Runyuan, the youngest, was not yet 50.

At first, they planted 667 hectares of saplings (幼苗) . However, after the first sandstorm, no more than 30 percent survived. After countless failure, they successfully thought of the idea of burying wheat straw(埋麦秸) around trees to hold the sand.

Planting trees in desert is difficult, but taking care of them was even challenging. To protect the trees, they chose to live   there for years, in a simple shelter they made from wooden poles and straw (木杆和稻草) . They used bricks(砖头) to support a cooking pot(灶台) , drank boiled water and ate steamed buns when hungry.

In the eyes of the six men, the Babusha forest farm became their most valuable possession. Even in the 1990s, when they were lack of money, they didn't cut down a single tree or grass to sell. Time passed by and four of the six passed away. But their children and grandchildren took up the torch and continued their work.

Now, the desert has changed into grassland and forest. The amount of plants has increased from less than 3% to more than 75%. In 2019, "the six old men"and their families were honored"Model of the Times"and"Most Beautiful Fighters" for their hard work.
