Tony is a new member (成员) of the Reading Club. He makes some new friends in the club.

    Once upon a time, there was a rich man and a poor tailor(裁缝). They lived in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}same house. The rich man lived upstairs and the poor{#blank#}2{#/blank#}lived downstairs. The tailor liked to sing when he made clothes. He sang one {#blank#}3{#/blank#} after another. But the rich man liked to sleep a lot, and he couldn't get to sleep because of the singing. He felt very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

    One day, the rich man said, "Tailor, I will give you a bag full of {#blank#}5{#/blank#}every day if you stop singing. "Fine, "said the tailor. And so the tailor {#blank#}6{#/blank#}singing and became richer and richer. But the more money he got from the rich man, the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}he became, because he wanted very much to sing again.

    At last he brought all his money {#blank#}8{#/blank#}to the rich man. "Here, "he said, "take your money back. I won't be happy {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I can't sing. "He gave the money back to the rich man and went away singing. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}sang and sang and was happier than before.

This year，Children's Day was an unforgettable experience for many children in Beijing!The China National Theater for Children successfully showed 12 special plays for kids from May 31 to June 10.These plays were chosen from 146 entries for the "Blooming and Sailing"program.There were many different types of plays，including puppet（木偶） shows，and even the traditional Yueju Opera.

Families came to the theater for 10 days to see these great shows.The theater has hosted this program for three years because of the support of the Beijing Culture and Arts Fund.

Two plays were really popular with young kids. "Go to the Farm"was fun for kids aged 17 months to 4 years.It was lively and educational."Momoda"was also popular with babies aged 6 months to 18 months.It was totally fun.

After the shows，children were full of happiness.Little John said，"I loved 'Go to the Farm'!It was so much fun to learn about animals and play with the puppets."And baby Emily said

There were also eight workshops about these plays.They provided theater fans with a chance to go deeper into the world of stage arts.This year's"Blooming and Sailing"program was a big success.Kids and families had a great time and will remember it for a long time.

Once upon a time, there was a king. He always worried about what might happen, the future. One day, the king noticed a cobbler（修鞋匠）. Although he wore ragged（破旧的）clothes, he was very happy. Why could he smile so brightly? The king decided to find out the reason. 

The next day, the king dressed in rags and followed the cobbler home. 

"Please, sir, can you give some food to me?" asked the king. 

"Of course," said the cobbler. 

"Why are you so happy?"

"Today I made enough money by repairing shoes to buy the bread."

"But what will happen if you don't make enough money for food tomorrow?"

"I have confidence. Everything will be fine."

This touched the king. But he wondered what would happen if the cobbler couldn't make enough money. So the next day, the king didn't allow anyone to repair shoes. The cobbler didn't know why, but he wasn't sad. Whenhe saw some villagers trying to carry water home, he helped them and got a little money from them. 

That evening the king went to the coobler's house again. The cobbler was having soup and smiling. 

"How could you pay for the food today?" asked the king. 

"I made money by helping the villagers carry water," said the cobbler. "But what will you do tomorrow?"

"I have confidence. Everything will be fine."

"Your confidence has driven away my fear about the future. Thank you." said the king.

I am very busy on Friday. At 8:00I have math. It is not fun. The teacher {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ( say) it is useful, but I think it {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( be) difficult. Then at 9:00I have science. It is difficult {#blank#}3{#/blank#} interesting. At 10:00 I have P. E.. It is really {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( relax). After that, I have history at 11:

Thomas Edison was born in 1847. He was in school for only three months, but he asked a lot of questions. He liked to know how things worked. At the age of ten, he built a small chemistry lab (化学实验室) . He plantedvegetables in his garden and sold them to buy chemicals. 

One day, his mother was ill(生病的). The doctor said she needed an operation. But it was night and the oil lamp (油灯) in the room gave poor light. Edison thought hard and had an idea. He put all the oil lamps in his home on a long table. Then he put a big mirror (镜子) behind them. The room became quite bright, so the doctor could operate. 

At the age of twelve, Edison began selling candy, sandwiches and newspapers on a train. When he was free, he printed(打印) newspapers on the train and sold them to the railway workers. 

One day in August, 1862, Edison saw a boy playing on the tracks at a station. A train was coming near quickly, and the boy was too frightened (害怕的) to move. Edison took the boy to a safe place quickly. The boy's father was the station master. He was so thankful that he taught Edison railway telegraphy (电报学). Edison soon became very good at it and later he left home to work in different cities. This gave him a new start in his life. He was then just a boy of sixteen.
