Families are getting smaller in Europe and North America, but homes are not. In many (国家),they are getting bigger. Bigger homes are more expensive and heating (它们) in cold weather is worse for the environment.
It is (相信) that we can think about the size of our homes. Sixteen-year-old Austin Hay is building a home on his parents' drive. Although it's only 2.4 meters (宽的) and 3.7 meters long, it has got everything important, including a (浴室),a kitchen and a bedroom with a low ceiling.
"When I was a kid, I wanted to build a tree house or a boathouse," Austin explains." But this house on wheels is the [ˈkuːlɪst] of all."
Austin doesn't do any building during the week because he's busy with schoolwork and [ˈpleɪɪŋ] basketball. But on the weekend he usually works hard on his house. "At the moment I'm working on the doors, I can do it e, so my dad isn't helping me. He thinks I can solve it. He only h with the difficult things."
Austin is sleeping in his little house this summer. And in the future? "University is very expensive in the USA, but for me, it'll be cheaper. I have m little house, I will take it with me wherever I go."
