【名师面对面】中考英语必备词汇通关训练 第三关 第二十三组
Now, it may be difficult to predict the future, but many people believe that we will live on Mars by the year 2100. Our own planet, Earth, is becoming more and more(拥挤的) and polluted. Well, what problems do we need to (解决) before we can get to Mars?
First of all, transport should be much better. At (现在), humans need to spend several months going to Mars by spaceship. However, by 2100, spaceships may travel at half the speed of light. Then, it would only take us two or three (天) to get there! Without (疑惑), humans need food, water and air to live. Scientists should develop plants that can be grown on Mars. These plants will (生产) the food, water and air that we need. However, there is no answer for all these problems right now. There is also a problem for us to live in the environment of Mars. Mars has less gravity than Earth. This is dangerous because we can easily jump too (高) and fly slowly away into space there. We will have to wear special shoes to make (我们自己) heavier.
Besides,I (推断) food would not be the same—meals might be in the form of pills and will not be as (美味的) as they are today. Also, space travel will probably make many people feel very uncomfortable. In some ways, life on Mars would not be better than that on Earth today.

It's in the shape of a half-moon. |
