Little Mike's grandma died weeks ago. He missed her very much. One afternoon Mike went to the city park. His grandma used to go there. There he saw an old lady. She looked very kind. She was sitting there, watching pigeons (鸽子). Little Mike went up and sat next to her. He took out his food and drinks, and gave some to her. She smiled at him .Her smile was very sweet. She seemed to understand him, and she smiled again. Mike was very glad.

       They sat there all the afternoon, eating and talking. As it grew dark, Mike got up to leave. Before he left, he hugged the old lady and she gave him her sweetest smile.

     When Mike got home, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face.“I met a granny in the park. Her smile was like the kind of my grandma's.” said Mike.

     The old lady also returned to her home happily. She told her son she had food and drinks with a little boy. “He was as lovely as Brittany.” She said. Her son was surprised, because he had never seen her so happy since Brittany, her grandson, died weeks ago.

    On August 21st, 2016, our Chinese National Women's Volleyball Team won the gold medal at 2016 Rio Olympics, 12 years after the last gold medal. All of Chinese were so excited. Thanks to the great coach named Lang Ping whom Chinese people are so proud of. Lang Ping was born in Tianjin. She was once a volleyball player of the Chinese National Volleyball Team. They won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Lang was seen as one of the most respected  people in modern Chinese sports history. Because of her excellent skills and main role in the success of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team in the 1980s, she is known as the "Iron Hammer ".

    In 1995, Lang as a coach led the national team and guided them to win the silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. But in 2005, she became coach of the USA's women's team. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Lang led the Americans to play against Chinese National Team. In 2013, Lang became coach of China again. It could be difficult to train for the Rio Olympics. In order to get ready for it, she tried her best to teach girls skills, and she is also friendly, just like girls' mother. They get on well with each other and work together. She encouraged them all the time and told them "never give up". In fact, everyone had a strong will for their dream. Now the dream really came true.

    Their success showed the world about their great spirit. Though the success did not come easily, they can make it. Lang is regarded as the most amazing star all the time.

    People sometimes like to read stories of dogs very much. They think that dogs are much cleverer than cats, sheep, cows or other animals in their homes.

    One of my close friends, Bob, has a very large dog named Jack. Every Sunday afternoon, Bob and Jack have a walk in the park nearby. Jack likes these walks very much.

    One Sunday afternoon, I paid a visit to my friend. I stayed there for a long time and my friend and I had much more to talk with each other than ever before. Soon it was time for them to take a walk in the park. We forgot it. Jack became worried about it. He walked around the room several times and then sat down in front of me and looked at me. But we still paid no attention (注意) to him. I went on talking with my friend. At last, Jack could not wait any longer. He went out of the room and came back a few minutes later. He sat down in front of me again. But this time, he held my hat in his mouth. Suddenly, I understood what Jack meant and so did my friend.

    Karl goes shopping with his mother on Sunday. What do they buy in the supermarket?

    What fruits do they buy? Karl's father likes apples very much. They buy some apples for him. Karl's mother likes bananas, but there are many bananas at home. So they don't buy them. But she buys some strawberries for herself. Karl likes oranges very much, so his mother buys some for him.

    The vegetables in the shop are very good. They buy some tomatoes and onions. Karl doesn't like onions, but his father and mother like them.

After shopping, Karl and his mother have some milk and ice creams. And then they go back home with the fruits and vegetables.

Elephant who can fly

    Dumbo is a little elephant. He is born in a circus (马戏团). But he is different from other elephants.

    His ears are very big. Other elephants often make fun of him for this. He feels bad about himself. However, one day, some children in the circus find out that Dumbo can fly. He can fly just like a bird. Dumbo works with an aerial artist(高空杂技艺术家)to perform. People like their shows. Soon, Dumbo becomes a big star!

This is the story of the Disney live­ action movie Dumbo. It tells us that we should celebrate our differences, even if others think they are strange.

    Do you know Dumbo is based on(改编自)the book of the same name. US authors, Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl, wrote the book. In 1941, Disney made it into a movie. It became a classic(经典作品). That's why Disney decided to remake it. Dumbo will open in Chinese mainland theaters on March 29.
