When I met Larry, my husband-to-be, he came with an eighteen-month-old daughter, Mckenna, and a four-year-old son, Lorin. I quickly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (fall) in love with Lorin and Mckenna, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the children's mother, Dia, was a different story.

    Chris is a doctor from France and he works for MSF,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} is also known as Doctors Without Borders. MSF sends its doctors all over the world {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(help) people after a war or a disaster. The organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.

    At the moment, there are over 27,000 trained doctors taking part in MSF projects and tasks. This year, more than 2300 international doctors will join {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (they) to provide medical help around the world. All kinds of doctors can volunteer for MSF. They need to be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (prepare) to go almost anywhere and, of course, they should expect difficult conditions. When MSF accepts a doctor for a task, he has to go for {#blank#}7{#/blank#} least six months.

    When {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (ask) why he left a comfortable life and a good salary to join MSF, Chris said, “The experience I gain is a great help in my career.     Research has become both simpler and more complex. It's simpler because,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} you have computer, you can find information you need by searching the Internet. For all you information, you don't have to go to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}library to find the relevant resource and take notes on it. Instead, you can find some sources from the Internet{#blank#}3{#/blank#}print the copies needed. Remember, however, that you should usually consult different types of sources. That is, you {#blank#}4{#/blank#}always rely just on the Internet for you research.

    While finding information is easier than ever, at the same time, researching has become {#blank#}5{#/blank#} complex. There is a lot more material available, which means you may be overwhelmed {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the amount of information. You need to learn {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to sort through and find the relevant information for your particular project. Also,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} need to check the accuracy of it.

    Friends play an important part in our {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (life). Though we may take friendship for granted, we often don't clearly understand {#blank#}2{#/blank#} we make friends. While we get on {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(good) with many people, we are usually friends with only a few—for example, per student usually {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (have) about 6 friends. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) together. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}fact, as we get to know people, we take into account things like age, race, economic condition, social position, and intelligence. Although these things are not of great {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (important), {#blank#}8{#/blank#} is more difficult to get on with people when there is an obvious difference in age and background. Compared with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonies to {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (strong) the connection between two people. But the mutual（彼此的）understanding that results from common experiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} can overcome difference in background, and break down barriers（障碍）of age, class and race.

    Robot teachers are now very popular with pupils in some primary schools in South Korea. Compared with human teachers, the robot teachers are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (patient). They never get angry and are always kind to the students. That's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the children can always get on well with their robot teachers.

    English-teaching robots {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (send) to three primary schools for eight weeks last December. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (equip) with a microphone and video camera, the robots teach students as teachers. Researchers found that the English-teaching robots helped raise students' interests in the language and build up their {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (confident).
