北大附中河南分校2016届九年级下学期英语3月月考试卷

根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。

Do as the Romans Do

    The customs in different countries are rather different. If I have dinner with a Chinese host, he always puts more food onto my plates as soon as I have emptied it. That often discomforts me greatly. I have to eat the food even if I don't want to, because it is considered bad manners in the West to leave one's food on the plate. I have already noticed that when a Chinese sits at an American's dinner party, he very often refuses the offer of food or drink though he is in fact still hungry or thirsty. This might be good manners in China, but it is not in the West at all. In the United States, it is impolite to keep asking someone again and again or insist on his accepting something. Americans have a direct way of speaking. If they want something, they will ask for it. If not, they will say, “No, thanks.” When an American is fed with beer by the host, for example, he might say, “No, thanks. I'll take some diet, Pepsi-Cola(百事可乐)if you have it. ”That is what an American will do. So when you go to the United States, you had better remember the famous saying: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

(1)、From the passage, we can know that the Chinese are usually ________ to the guests.
A、very hot B、rude C、impolite D、cold
(2)、When a foreigner has dinner with a Chinese host, he often feels _______.
A、pleasant B、uncomfortable C、satisfied D、happy
(3)、Why does a Chinese often refuse the offer of food or drink at a dinner party?
A、He has had enough. B、He is shy. C、He is afraid that others will laugh at him. D、He thinks it's polite to do that.
(4)、When an American wants something to eat or drink at a dinner, he will _______.
A、ask for it boldly B、refuse the offer C、ask for it directly D、express himself indirectly
(5)、“When in Rome, do as the Romans do “means “________”.
A、When you got to Rome, you should act as the Romans do B、When you stay in Rome, you should do as the Romans do C、When you are in a new country, you should do as the locals do D、Romans can be an example for you

Shandong Province held the 36th Weifang International Kite Festival on the third Saturday of April in2019. A lot of kite fans from all over the world went there to join in the interesting festival on that day. Different kinds of beautiful kites flew in the sky.

Over 2, 000 years ago, a man named Gongshu Ban from Shandong Province invented a kite. It was made of bamboo. In the following centuries, kite-making developed well in China.

The first Weifang International Kite Festival was celebrated in 1984. In 1983, the Chairman of the Seattle Kite Association David Checkley took part in a kite show and later he visited several kite manufacturers(制造商). He found that kites made in Weifang were the best. He suggested holding the first Weifang International Kite Festival there. After that, Weifang began to hold it in April every year.

At the fifth festival, Weifang became known as the" Kite Capital of the World". Today, Weifang is home to over 300 kite factories. People in Weifang sell their products to about 40 countries and regions(地区) , making up 85 %of the domestic(国内的)markets and 65 %of the foreign markets.

However, there are also some problems. "Few people would like to learn about traditional kite-making," said Yang Hongwei. Yang's grandfather was once one of the best kite makers in Weifang. Nowadays, Yang still uses traditional ways and skills to make kites. In her opinion, only traditional things can last for a long time. Since the1990s, she has travelled to many countries to teach and take part in kite shows. "I won't stop teaching the ways of making kites as long as someone wants to learn. Meanwhile, the government should hold more kite festivals in China or even overseas, "she said.

By drawing pictures on a cup of tea, chabaixi, an ancient Chinese tea art, has become popular recently. Chang Zhifeng, an inheritor(传承人) of chabaixi, noticed from a TV show that many people showed great interest in this art.

Chabaixi can create different pictures such as bum boos and mountains. There are many steps, from grinding(磨碎) tea, pouring boil cd water, stirring(搅拌) the mixture, to finally drawing the pictures. After seven times of pouring water and stirring, there will be enough dark foam(泡沫). Then we can draw pictures on it with clear water and a stick. The process of drawing, or dlancha, must be finished in 20 minutes before the foam disappears.

"Chabaixi is one of the many forms of tea art in China. It becomes popular not only because it is a special Chinese tradition, but also because it gives us a window to see people's lifestyle in the Song Dynasty." Zhang said.

Years ago, this special art was close to disappearing completely. Zhang Zhifeng started researching the origins(起源) of chabaixi in the 1980 s and brought the art back in 2009 after scars of sting and practicing. Chang thought it was really meaningful. In 2017, this art was listed as part of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产).

"This art is key to the tea culture of the Song Dynasty, and it would be a shame to let it disappear. It is our duty to pass it on," Zhang said.

阅读下列短文,然后从 A-E五个选项中选择正确的选项(其中有一项是多余选项),将其序号填入横线上。

 With the development of our society(社会), many families become rich. This development brings us many benefits. For example, we do not have to worry about basic life like food, water and clothing any longer. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} While life becomes more comfortable, many children become" giant babies(巨婴) ", depending on their parents for everything.

 Yesterday, I read a report that said many students in a middle school in Hongzhou didn't know how to tie their shoes. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Tying shoes is a basic life skill. Why couldn't these teenagers do such a simple thing?

I think there are two main reasons. First, parents must shoulder the blame(指责). In my opinion, parents should leave their children to do some basic things— such as tying shoes, washing clothes and heating meals. How can children learn these basic life skills if their parents do everything for them? Second, school are to blame. These days, school are paying too much attention to students' marks.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

 But, above all, children themselves must realize that it is terrible to become" giant babies".{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

 It is time for us to take action to stop more children from becoming " giant babies".

A. I felt surprised.

B. What on earth should teach students?

C. However, just as the old saying goes," Every coin has two sides."

D. If they don't want to learn basic life skills, who else can help them?

E Many of them ignore(忽视) the importance of students' all- round development.

According to the text, what should parents do to stop their children becoming" giant babies"?  (10词以内) {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

 用方框中所给单词的适当形式填空,每词仅用一次(每空一词)。

relative; magic; off; early; Australia

Australia celebrates many Western holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. However, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} also celebrate some holidays of their own. Melbourne Cup is one of them. It's a well-known horse racing competition. On the first Tuesday in November every year, it is held in Melbourne that is not only a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} city in the state of Victoria but also its capital.

Last year, I visited my friend Peter that lived in Melbourne. We went to watch the horse race after one of his {#blank#}3{#/blank#} gave him two tickets. When we arrived there, the number of people really surprised me. Peter told me all the people in Melbourne have a day {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and that schools and most businesses are closed on Melbourne Cup Day. At the scene(现场), we also saw a lot of women wearing beautiful hats and dresses.

What we liked most was certainly the horse race itself, It started at 3 pm and every rider had to try his best to keep the horse energetic in the 3, 200-me tre race. Finally, a horse named Cross Counter arrived at the finishing line {#blank#}5{#/blank#} than any other horse. According to Peter, the first race was held in 1861 and a horse named Archer became the winner that year.

 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

 The sanfu period (时期) or"dog days of summer" means the hottest part of summer in Chinese lunar calendar(农历). It was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} July 15 to Aug 14 in 2024. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), sanfu period is{#blank#}2{#/blank#} excellent moment for health care and treating illnesses.

A man named Xu Maolin told his own experience, "I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (have)a runny nose since I was little. I used to suffer from it every morning and evening during autumn and winter. That was painful. Last year,I tried sanfutie for the{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (one) time and I felt much better. This {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (complete) changed my opinion about TCM. I think TCM has a deep understanding of the human body. I want to make {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (far) studies about TCM by reading more books. It's important to learn to improve {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (I) whole health."

 Nowadays, young people may be worried because of difficulties in life, and{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (health) habits like staying up late often make them feel uncomfortable. TCM works well in treating illnesses. The {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (wise) of TCM in keeping healthy is invaluable. Technology is changing fast, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the traditional medicine is still important. It's our duty to pass it down and keep it alive.
