There are many different kinds of disasters around the world. As an adult you know what to do during a disaster, but what about the children? Some adults think it would probably never happen to them, so they don't teach their children what to do. Before it's too late, here are ways to help you prepare your children for a disaster.

    Educate: It is always good to let your children know about possible disasters. This doesn't mean children have to live in fear. When teaching them about disasters, keep the conversation positive (积极的) by telling them there is a solution (解决办法) to the disaster. Keep the conversations short, allow for questions and answer them honestly.

    Prepare: Always be prepared. And that is the best piece of advice for children. For example, when preparing for bad weather, get the tools you need, like candles, radios, food, water and medicine. Teach your children what is needed in certain disasters so that they know what is available for them, if ever needed.

    Plan: You should always have a plan for you and your children for any dangerous situation. Write out a simple list that they can read. The plan could start with "listen to an adult's advice and/or call 119".

    Practise: Once you have got the correct safety tools and worked out the right plan, practise every few months. Practising what to do during a disaster with your children will help them if the time comes.

    Disasters can't be avoided but they can belessened once you are prepared and ready for one.

Karachi, Pakistan, is one of the hottest cities on Earth. In June 2015, more than 1,000 people died there during a heatwave(持续高温天气)." It was so 1 !" said Shahzad Qureshi, a local person." We need to do something about it!"

 After the heatwave, Qureshi 2 . He set up an organization named Urban Forest to plant native trees in Karachi. Trees help 3 the air by providing shade and releasing moisture(水分) through their leaves. According to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, trees can help lower summer temperatures in cities by 1 to 5℃.

 For its first project, Urban Forest planted 1,300 trees in a local 4 . The group used a special way that helped the trees grow 5 . In just three years, the trees were nine meters tall. Qureshi 6 that one day, the park will become a forest of 50,000 trees.

 Qureshi and his team have now helped cool the air in Karachi by planting 12 forests in the city. The trees also provide a 7 for all kinds of animals and food for the local people. And they create a shady and 8 place for people.

 In 2017, Qureshi helped to plant a forest at Karachi Grammar School." The students were excited about the 9 ," said Muneeza Shaikhali, the school's headteacher." They themselves have been experiencing the high temperatures during the summer months."

 The trees attract birds and colorful butterflies. Students go outside during science class to study the 10 ." It's like a library of native trees for the kids," says Qureshi." It's really a wonderful thing to see."

Our family went to the Yellow Stone National Park last summer vacation. Our son, Tom, wanted to see bears there. And what an experience it was!

When we got there, we put up our tent and went to explore（探险）. As we returned, we heard our daughter Susie cry out. And then we saw a bear go into our camp. 

Tom wanted his father to chase（追赶）him away. 

His father said, "No. It's dangerous to chase a bear. And don't let him chase you."

Susie said, "What shall we do? Maybe we should climb a tree."

Tom said, "No. We have to get him out of there. He might go to sleep in our tent."

"Maybe we could make him leave if we put some honey outside for him to eat." Susie suggested. 

Then I said, "How are you going to get the honey? It's in the tent."

We watched the bear go into the tent and heard him upset（翻倒）everything inside. 

"It's foolish for us to try to chase him away." said my husband, "Leave him alone and wait for him to come out."

We waited, but the bear stayed inside. We had to sleep in the car that night.

American boy Rain Price is a student. His dad waved(挥手) him off to school from the bus stop outside his house for half a year. That doesn't sound special, but this was not a/ an 1 goodbye because each day Rain's dad said goodbye wearing the costume(戏服)!

It all started on 13- year- old Rain's first day at middle school. Like many 2 Rochelle and Dale, Rain's mum and dad, sent him to school 3 a big wave. The next morning when Rain got onto the 4 outside his house, he could hear his school friends 5 something. He turned around and to his surprise, his dad dressed up as a football player. Rain felt embarrassed(尴尬的).

For the next 180 school 6 , Dale waved goodbye to his son dressed in a 7 costume. One day he was a king waving his sword, the next a 8 with a violin, the following a superman. Dale even got other family to 9 him. Rain's younger 10 played Batman and he thought Rain would like it. Each day Rochelle took a photo of 11 and put it on the blog to let more people know. That made the family became very 12 . So Rain 13 saw the funny side and thought his dad was cool, not embarrassing.

14 all good things must come to an end. On the last day of school, Dale dressed up as  a teacher and stood next to a sign reading" It's been fun waving at the bus. Have a great summer". He has 15 plans to wave Rain off to school next year. He wants to get a little more sleep each morning.

Last week I went to an art show. A painting caught my eyes. To my amazement, it was painted by Steven, one of my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Then many things about him came into my mind.

Steven was from a poor family. His parents{#blank#}2{#/blank#}not afford to buy him some basic things that he needed. Once our school provided gloves for poor children. I put Steven's name on the list. He was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when he received a pair. He loved to wear them and they were always {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than anybody else's. 

Steven had a gift(天赋) for painting and he could {#blank#}5{#/blank#} understand what I described in class. But he didn't have money to buy the paper for painting. So sometimes, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him some. He parctised hard. And I often showed his paintings of the class. He was greatly {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

One day just before the summer vacation, he came to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} some art books. When the new term began, he showed some of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} paintings to me. I felt shocked . They were very good. Then we talked a lot. He said he would keep on. 

Later he was admitted(录取) to a famous art university. After graduation, he had many difficulties, but he never gave up. He was always {#blank#}10{#/blank#} his best to improve himself. His hard work and strong mind led to his success.

I have a computer at home. I often use it 1 my lessons. I go online 2 for   information. It 3 me a lot. Now I become 4 good student in my class. I also use my computer for fun. There 5 a lot of songs on the Internet. I can find the songs by my favourite singer 6 . I often watch football matches on the computer, too. I don't play 7 games, because I think it's bad for my eyes. My brother likes watching Chinese movies on the computer. He thinks it can help 8 learn Chinese better. On weekends, we 9 use the computer. We usually go out to have a picnic in the park 10 go fishing near the river.
