On March 5, Emory University （艾莫里大学）reported that Zhang Yide, a first-year Chinese student committed suicide(自杀) and died at the age of 19. The excellent student suddenly died without warning. 

When Zhang Yide was one year old, his parents divorced(离婚). His mother left him, and he was raised by his father Zhang Yue alone. His father, a former corporate executive(企业高管), left his job to accompany his son. After returning to the countryside, Yide's father taught Yide to read and write. His father recorded all the experiences of Yide through photos and words, and built a "growing up museum cabinet"(成长博物柜) for his child. Yide is an intelligent child. When he graduated from high school, Yide was admitted to Emory University, which is known as "Harvard in the south of the United States". He scored 118 in TOEFL. And he also did very well in some competitions. Everybody thought he was excellent, hard-working and self-disciplined(自律的).

We don't know why he chose to commit suicide. But we have to think about a question: how should we correctly face our problems and difficulties and deal with them?

"What's the matter, Mum?" As soon as I go into the door, I find that my mother is 1 . It's unusual—She usually opens the door and 2 me with a smile when I come back home. 

"She's dying, " Mum says sadly. I 3 what she says. The tulip(郁 金 香), Mum's favourite, is dying. 

A month ago, we 4 into our new house and Mum bought a very beautiful tulip. Mum liked it very much. 5 she was free, she would sit in her armchair beside the tulip and 6 its beautiful colour and inviting(诱人的) smell. 

She thought it as a(n)7 and looked after it carefully. She put the tulip by window and moved it from one place to another to let the tulip get enough 8 . The first thing she did when she got up every morning was to 9 the tulip. Mum also fertilised(施肥) it many 10 . 

She hoped that 11 great care, the tulip would become more and more beautiful and stronger. But the tulip was dying because of 12 sunlight, water and fertiliser. 

It's 13 that Mum loved the tulip. But this kind of 14 can be harmful(有害的). Love can sometimes make what you love 15 . Don't you think so?

Australia is a large island and the world's sixth largest country. Australia has many beautiful places for travelling, from the Great Barrier Reef to Sydney. There are also many beautiful beaches. That's the reason why I went to Australia. 

My first impression(印象) of Australia was the Western architecture(建筑风格), comfortable life and nice people. Sydney is made up of many exciting areas, each with its own feature. 

I borrowed a car and drove around Fraser Island. I worked on a farm at Bowen for a week. Working on a farm was very difficult. Almost all the people there were working to save travel costs. I also did this. It helped me understand the value of money. 

By travelling I felt that the world was small. I realised that I had to study English very hard to be an international person. I didn't speak English well, so I often lost my way. Whenever I asked them for directions, they were willing to help me. I heard that they thought of nature first of all when they built a building. They think about animals and plants. I'm impressed by it. Most of all, I learned about the Australians' kindness and love of nature. Whenever I think of Australia, I want to travel to Australia again. I miss Australia. 

Our teacher asked us to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a form about our favourite books and why we like the books. As I finished it, my mind{#blank#}3{#/blank#} {#blank#}4{#/blank#} {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the stories from the books. I had read before. This form not only helped the teacher learn more about us, but also made me think of my reading journey. 

Bella invited me to her birthday party but something unexpected (出乎意料的) happened after dinner.

"It's scary movie time!" Bella said 1 .

"Are you kidding? Watching scary things before bed will keep me 2 the whole night," I said.

"Come on. My cousin 3 saw this movie before and he says it's not scary at all," said Bella.

"I may ruin (破坏) your party because of my endless scream (尖叫)," I 4 .

"It's my birthday wish. 5 try to watch it, even for a couple of minutes," said Bella.

Then I agreed very unhappily. We sat in the sofa with yummy popcorn and 6 the movie. For the first couple of minutes, I thought Bella's cousin was 7 . But later the monsters (怪兽) started 8 at everybody in the movie. So both of us 9 and screamed!

I even made all my popcorn go 10 . I knew I 11 find a way to run away from those scary scenes. "Is it OK if I talk a walk 12 the movie is over? Maybe you can tell me what happened later."

Then everything worked out fine. Bella did have fun during the movie, but not so much fun later.

"Can 13 just turn the light on?" Bella said at bedtime. "I keep thinking there are 14 monsters under my bed. There's no way I'm going to close my eyes tonight."

I was very 15 that I just watched for a couple of minutes. Not only because the movie was not so much fun, but also because I was brave to refuse what I didn't like at last.
