I'm from the UK. At my school, sports can be very relaxing. You don't have to go to a 40-minute class each week. Instead, we get to pick when we want to play sports. Also, there is a great number of sports to choose from, so everyone can find something they enjoy. We can take lessons in swimming, rock climbing, dancing, soccer and badminton. We don't have exams for sports☺ . What are PE classes like in your country? posted on May 15th at 19:50 post a comment |
At my school, we have a few units (单元) about sports and exercise to learn about. During each unit, we practice key skills for the sport. For example, for basketball, we practice passing and shooting. At the end of each unit, we have a test. For tennis, we spend the whole unit passing the ball to each other. So for the test, we need to pass it at least 10 times without stopping to get a score of 100. Antonio, Mexico |
In my school, every afternoon from 3:30 to 5 pm is PE time. In PE classes, students usually just do practice, like running in the gym and more. However, people in the US love sports a lot. Sports team training is another kind of PE. Every school has its own sports teams, for example, American football, baseball, basketball, tennis and much more. All the teams compete in the city or the state. Every team has their schedule, but they usually train until 5 pm every day. Ann, the USA |
Go Ape is an adventure park, with shaking bridges, zip wires and Tarzan swings. One of the most important things about the courses is the trees. Chris Miller, tells us what his jobs are and why you should join him in Go Ape.
What does a Senior Tree Officer do? I am responsible for taking care of over 3, 000 trees across 36 places. I also make sure the trees are healthy and strong. |
Have you always loved trees and the outdoors? My dad has always had a love of nature. He loves watching birds, so from a young age I had a very outdoorsy childhood. |
Do you ever feel scared of heights? Tree climbing and outdoor activities were always a part of my childhood, but as you grow up, you lose that fearlessness (无畏). There are some moments when you get to the top of a tree and you're questioning a lot of things, but you have to calm down and don't overthink things. |
What do you like about trees? Their beauty. Every tree can tell a story. |
Do you have a favourite tree fact? How shallow (浅的) tree roots are! A lot of people think they go down deep, but they're actually shallow, only in the top metre of earth and wide spreading (延展). |
What is your favourite type of tree? One of my favourites is a paperbark maple. I've got one in my garden that I planted a few years ago. It's got this lovely rich dark brown bark. |
How would you describe Go Ape in three words? Adventure, fun and trees. |
What do you want to say to our readers? "Come and enjoy the treetop adventures in our courses!" |
Do you have good friends? What kind of friends do you like to make? Some students are sharing their opinions with us.
Tom Although we are quite different, Alan and I have been close friends for 5 years. We have a lot to talk. We often play basketball together after school and go for a picnic on weekends. It's always a pleasure to be with him. | Li Hong I spend my free time mostly with people from western countries. When I'm with them,I really get to know what they' re like and how easy they are to get along with. They help me to improve my English quickly. |
Lisa I often make some good friends at the gym I go to. People there are very friendly. Talking to them as I take exercise is a good way for us to get to know each other. | Peter I can make more friends on the Internet because it keeps me in touch with the whole world. I can get worldwide stories from my friends all over the world. |
