Every day on Amelia's way to work she had to pass a slum(贫民窟) .Though she was a social worker, she had never paid much attention to it.

    This changed when she met a boy named Jack. Jack knew that she was the head of social services, and was sure she could help. He reached out his hand to touch her, and said, "Can you help me? I'm looking hard for my dad."

    His hands were so cold that Amelia could not help holding them. She said, "What's up? ""My mum is sick and too weak to get up. Her birthday is coming. I know my father's coming back would be the best present. We really love him, and need him." "So what's his name? What does he do?" Amelia asked. He said, "I've no idea. My mum said he had left us before I was two years old." Amelia was deeply moved and said, "Take me to your home, son."

    He led her to a small house. Looking around, there was nothing in it except for a small bed. A woman was sitting on it and as soon as Amelia saw her, she knew her life was near its end. She said to Amelia, "Please find a home for my son. Please don't leave him alone in the world. "With tears running from her eyes, Amelia took her hand and said," I will take care of him and love him as my own son." In fact, since her husband and she had no children, they had been wanting a child for a long time.

    Ever since Amelia took Jack into her home, life is full of joy and laughter. She got the best present in return for her kindness.

The only thing better than reading a good book is reading it with others. In a book club, a group of people will find a book. Then everyone will read it by themselves first and then talk about the book with others. Reading is not just something you love doing by yourself. It's also fun to talk about what you' re reading with friends.

There are no rules(规则) of starting a book club. But it's better to have a plan for it. Here it is.

First, before you start a book club, you should think about" What will my book club be like?"" When and where will we meet?"

Then, ask your friends to come to your club. Think of eight to twelve people around your age. You may ask your friends for help, and they can ask their friends to come. These people may be your new club members. And you can make friends with them.

Next, having a topic can also help. The topic may interest members to look up more information about it. You might want to read stories about history. The topic" history" makes it easier to know which books to read. If every time every member helps find a book to read, you might know more great new books and writers.

Finally, make sure to read the book before the meeting. And then come to the meeting with questions to talk about.

The Chinese dragon with no wings, also known as eastern loong, is different from the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} dragon. It's said that loong is a lucky animal that can bring {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and a good year for people. Loong is considered as a symbol of power and royal dignity in ancient China. The images of loong can be seen in the Palace Museum and the Summer Palace. Every year, millions of tourists go there {#blank#}3{#/blank#} them as they are seen as Chinese spirits. 

Two festivals {#blank#}4{#/blank#}loong every year in China: the Lantern Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival. On the Lantern Festival, the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, people wave dragon {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to celebrate the coming spring. On the Dragon Boat Festival, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, people hold dragon boat competitions. For thousands of years, loong has been a powerful symbol in Chinese culture. 

I'm Ellen, a student from Glasgow, England. When I get to school,I talk with my friends for a while. The bell rings at 8:55. The first class is a short 15-minute class. The teacher calls the names of the students. The teacher also reads out the school's notices. On Wednesday morning we do not have this class. Instead, all of my year group go into the big school hall. The head teacher for our year reads all the school notices. She also talks about important subjects like being kind and helpful to each other.

 The first teaching class is at 9:10. Every day I have a different first class. On Mondays, it is maths. Sometimes our teacher tells us to do pair work or group work. I enjoy group work the most. I like working with other people.

I also have four English classes every week. English is one of my favourite subjects. We are lucky to have a helpful and funny teacher. At the start of each lesson, we have ten minutes of private(私人的) reading. I enjoy reading books about space travel and action stories. We work on the four parts of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Sometimes we have to stand up and give a talk to the class.

 At my school, we must take French. We can take other languages when we are older. In French class, we learn easy words, and also about French culture. It can be fun to say something in French.

 My school life is different but interesting.
