Hello! My name is Jack Brown. I'm a middle school student. I like playing the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(钢琴) and l am in the Music Club. Miss White is the music teacher in the club. She teaches us{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(所有的)she knows about music. I like going there after school every day. 

But my mother quite worries about my study. She thinks l spend too much time on music, I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(承诺) to study hard, But sometimes l can't do well at school. Luckily, when I have problems in my schoolwork, my good friend Bob Black is always {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(乐意的)to help me. 

Bob is the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(班长) of our class. He does well at school and he gets on well with{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(每个人) in our class. Bob loves sports and he is {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(强健的) and healthy. He can {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(游泳）very well. And he is also good at playing basketball. He is in our school basketball {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (队伍). He always gets a good {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(得分) in every match. We think Bob is the best student in our class. 

Ghaffar Pourazar, a British man, has learned the necessary skills to perform Beijing Opera and he has become popular with his lively performance of the Monkey King, a traditional character from the Chinese classic story Journey to the West.

In 1993, he happened to watch Beijing Opera performed in London by professionals from Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing. Ghaffar fell in love with the beautiful voices, colorful costumes, excellent shows and so on. So after a year, he arrived in China alone and became a student of Beijing Opera.

At the age of 32, he had to learn with teenage students every day, starting from the most basic training of the legs and waist (腰). At that time, he was mostly troubled by the dialogue in Beijing Opera. To him, it was the biggest problem. But he tried his best to practice it. 4 years later, he began to learn to perform the Monkey King. He usually arrived at the workroom on hour earlier than the other performers and he also bought books and CDs to understand the character better. Finally, He once won a top international prize for performing the Monkey King.

To help more people enjoy Beijing Opera, Ghaffar often teaches the traditional art form in schools in the United States, Britain and other countries. Ghaffar led a group of actors to perform 66 times in a month and a half in the United States. He also led a 48-member team to perform in Malaysia. In the past 10 years, he has performed in more than 400 shows.

Helping others is a great thing to do. You can learn new things and have fun. There are many ways of helping others. You can help people, animals or the environment. It can make you feel good too! How can you help?

Charities (慈善机构)

Charities are organizations that help others, for example, UNICEF or the World Wildlife Fund. You can help charities by giving your time, giving money or giving things that you own. You can also help people or places you know.

Volunteering

Volunteering is when you give your time to help others. It's something which you do not have to do or for which you will not be paid. Some ways of volunteering are: visiting old people to talk to them or help them walking dogs at an animal shelter (避难所), cleaning up a park.

Fundraising

Fundraising is when you collect money to help others. Some ways of fundraising are: making cakes or biscuits to sell, doing a sponsored (赞助) activity. For example, family and friends give you money if you finish a long walk.

Donating

Donating is when you give your things or money to help others. Some ways of donating are: giving your old toys or clothes to a charity that helps sick children or poor people, giving your old books to a library, giving your money to a charity. So, what can you do to help others?

Qingqiang Opera is a traditional Chinese opera in Shan'xi Province. Hou Hongqin is a Qinqiang Opera actor. Hou is famous for her sweet1 because her singing is special and great. She enjoyed practising it，although it was2 . She is especially thankful that she can learn from Xiao Yuling，the famous Qinqiang Opera actor. So Hou often feels she is3 . 

Hou became the head of an opera group in 2005. It was hard because she knew nothing about leading a group，but she decided to4 the challenge （挑战）. "I will use all of my experiences to5 Qinqiang Opera. Being an actor is not enough. Young people should know it and try to learn it. I will do my best to6 the opera to let more young people learn about it，" Hou says. 

Hou has a7 with lots of clothes. "If I am asked to give a show，I can take the bag and leave8 . I want to give more shows to let more people know about it. " Hou says. Most Qinqiang actors begin learning at 11 or 12，and they know nothing except Qinqiang，so it is almost not9 for them to change their job，" says Hou. 

"We must give young actors more care and10 . Now young actors are able to take part in more shows. "

Last Sunday, Claire's dentist told her the bad news:she had to start wearing braces (牙箍). Some of her teeth were not growing in straight. They might bring problems to her other teeth. 

Claire was not happy with the news. She thought of all the food she couldn't eat. She thought she would have a different smile. She did not want to have something different from others. 

The big day came, and Claire made her way to the dentist's office. Claire watched a TV show when the dentist put braces on her teeth. She tried to think of something fun so that she did not get scared. It seemed to take forever(要花很长时间) for the dentist to finish . . . . In the end, the dentist told her to sit up and gave her a mirror. 

Claire looked at herself in the mirror. Her smile was new, but she didn't like it. Claire's mom took her to get ice-cream to make her feel better. She just had to get used to(适应) the braces. It would all be worth(值得) it because she would have a beautiful smile two years later!
