Many middle school students don't know how to spend their free time. When they have holidays, they always have nothing to do and feel bored. How can you spend a perfect holiday? Here are some suggestions(建议).

If you like to stay at home, you can do these things. First, you may listen to some light music which helps relax yourself after working for a long time. Second, you can play some indoor(室内的)games such as chess, cards, and able tennis. Third, you can also plant some trees and flowers in your garden to make your home beautiful. Finally, it is also a good way to keep a pet and talk with it. For example, you can chose to keep a dog.

If you don't like to stay at home, you can go for a picnic with your family or friends, take a walk with your parents in a park, or play some sports out of the house. Go out of the house, and you can take some fresh air and keep healthy.

More than 50 years have passed since anyone set foot on the Moon. But soon, astronauts will return there with a new type of spacesuit (宇航服). Those old ones were really heavy and didn't fit every astronaut well, especially for women. So, NASA has to make some changes to them for the first time in 40 years. 

"The astronauts will find big improvements in these spacesuits" said NASA engineer Carly Meginnis. The new suit has more joints (关节), especially in the lower part of the body. This will offer astronauts more flexibility to perform tasks like kneeling and walking (not "rabbit jumping") on the moon. The gloves need to be protective and allow astronauts to do work as freely as possible. The new gloves have heaters (加热器) to keep fingers warm, since fingers become the coldest parts of body in space. Also, the spacesuit has a cooling system with water moving around to take away the unwanted heat. Another change is that the new helmet (头盔) provides a better view for astronauts. It even adds lights and an HD camera inside to take clearer videos. 

There are still some problems that need to be solved. For example, it still takes up to four hours to put on the spacesuit, even with the help from their partners (搭档). Moreover, scientist hope that spacesuits will be able to be designed to help astronauts work together with robots in the future.

African elephants can now be counted from space, using high resolution images (高清图像). The researchers say the new technology can be used to protect the animals better.

The researchers used satellites (卫星) 372 miles above the earth to take some of the highest resolution images. They then made a computer program that could identify (识别) elephants within the images (图像). Dr. Olga Isupova, from the University of Bath, told the BBC, "We could train the machine to see small details that we wouldn't be able to pick up with our eyes."

Usual ways of counting elephants are to fly above them in the planes or get humans to count the animals on satellite images. This can be difficult, because elephants are hard to be seen when they are among trees or tall grass. It takes a long time and mistakes can be made. The new technology means elephants can be counted more correctly and the work is much faster. The computers can do the same amount of counting in a few hours by the new technology instead of (代替) humans' monthly work. Clouds still are a challenge, because they can block (遮挡) the satellites' view. Luckily though, most places where the elephants live do not have much cloud.

The researchers say the new technology can help to save elephant populations from being hunted (捕猎) because it is easier to find where the elephants are and so plans can be made to protect them.

Developed by US company OpenAI,ChatGPT has taken the internet by.storm. People can ask the robot to write stories and emails,translate languages,and answer all kinds of questions.It does this by drawing on information collected from a large amount of internet text.One breakthrough behind today's model is a network called Transformer.The GPT models built by Open AI combined Transformer with unsupervised(无人指导的)learning,which means that the models can learn by themselves without being told what to look at.

"One of the biggest problems with ChatGPT is that it comes back,very  confidently,with false information,"Michael Wooldridge told The Guardian.This means that ChatGPT learns information from various resources but it cannot decide what is true or false.Some argue that ChatGPT will be used to make fake news, spread falsities,or be used for ill purposes.

Andreas Schleicher thinks the chatbot will become a very powerful tool in the development of education.But he also mentioned,"There's a great risk that we'll just blindly follow the answers that we get from ChatGPT rather than question it and create new knowledge.If students are only as smart as a smartphone,it means educators are not doing enough.People should focus on developing human skills that actually are important,such as imagination and creativity."

Schleicher added that as a tool,ChatGPT is going to make learning much more interesting and powerful,but as a purpose and goal,humans need to work very hard to win that race with technology.

Have you noticed that time seems to pass more slowly when you're waiting in a long line? But when you're playing with your friends, hours seem like minutes. Of course, time is always passing at the same speed--but why does it sometimes feel different?

A study published in the Journal of Neuroscience (神经科学杂志)can tell us the answer. Lead author Masamichi Hayashi and his research team in the US found that it has to do with neurons(神经元)in our brains that are sensitive(敏感的)to time.

The researchers measured (测量)the brain activity of 18 adults who were asked to look at a picture on a screen for a certain period of time. They were then asked to guess how long they had been looking at the picture. They were likely to guess incorrectly when they were asked to stare at the picture for very long or very short periods of time. 

After looking at their brain activity, the researchers found neurons need a certain amount of time to pass signals. When they receive repetitive stimulation(重复的刺激) (such as staring at a screen), these neurons finally get tired and don't work well. It doesn't matter whether this amount of time is long or short, as long as the stimulation is repetitive. However, other neurons still work normally, causing a different experience of time.

When you stand in line or do some other repetitive tasks, such as math homework, your time-sensitive neurons get tired and cause you to feel like time is going slowly. But when you're doing something more high-speed, such as playing soccer, you experience in the opposite way. Either way, you can't always trust your brain when it comes to your experience of time.

④Are you someone who likes to be alone? Find a small place in your room where you can spend time with yourself. You can pick up a guitar if you like to play instruments, or a few storybooks if you love reading. You may like flowers, candles or pretty things. Decorate your room with them. If you feel bored with them, you can change, add or remove something.

⑤Take every chance to inspire your creativity, no matter how small it is. You might be surprised by what you can create! Start creating and enjoy the wonderful journey.
