As we all know there are all kinds of clubs in US middle schools, such as music club, sports club, chess club, swimming club. But do you know homework club? It is a popular club in many US middle schools. More and more students spend(花费) their afternoons at homework clubs. The US middle school students need a quiet place to study. But games, computers and TVs are all around kids at home. So the homework club is just for them to do their homework. The club is quiet and it's good for students to study. Some teachers are there, too. They can answer students' questions and help with their homework.

    After the students finish their homework, they can go home. Then they can play games or watch TV happily.

I'll always remember the first time I tried ballet(芭蕾). My mother was a dancer and I wanted to be like her, but after making many mistakes during my first class, I felt like I wanted to give up right away. Because it was only my first day, I told my mom I couldn't wait to dance again.

Several weeks passed and my dancing didn't get any better. Then my dance teacher told us that we were going to perform in a show. I was afraid of falling on my face in front of hundreds of people and made my mom sad.

I practiced hard for the show, but I still didn't get the hang of it. Finally, I went to my mom to tell her how I felt. She just laughed and told me she would tea ch me all she knew about ballet. My mom quickly found out how bad at ballet I was, but she still taught me with the greatest patience, love and understanding. When I jumped and fell, she was there to catch me. When I lost my balance, she held me up. By the time the show arrived, I was as prepared as I could be.

The music began and my heart started to beat quickly. Breathing calmly, I began moving to the music without missing a step. When the music stopped, I ran off the stage and laughed with excitement.

My mom found me and gave me a huge hug, telling me how proud she was. I looked my mom in the eye and told her that there was no way this could have happened without her. Through this, I knew one important fact: My mom will always be there to catch me if I fall.

Max and Holly sat beside each other in a classroom. Their teacher Miss Carr stood at the front of the classroom and looked at them with a strange stare. "Silence!" Miss Carr shouted. "You're only allowed to speak if you want to say "I'd like to do extra hard MATH", understand? "

Then the bell rang for lunchtime and everyone jumped to their feet. "Sit down!" shouted Miss Carr. Everyone did as they were told. Miss Carr held up some sheets of paper. "These are new school rules, written by our wonderful new headteacher, Mr. Roberts, " she said. "You must do exactly as they say from this moment on. I want everyone to take a copy for your parents."

"Look at this!" Max said, reading the first line. "Rule one: No pupil will be allowed to go out at playtime unless they have passed a daily spelling test." Max and Holly then continued to look at the other new school rules. 

"Rule two: We're not supposed to be in here at lunchtime."

"Rule three: Pupils must eat cabbage stew or sprout surprise for lunch."

"Rule four: All P. E. will now take place outdoors—no matter what the weather is."

…

"Something's wrong." said Holly, "Things have been strange ever since Mr. Roberts took over as our head teacher last week. We need to find out what's going on."

Then Max and Holly walked to the teachers' office and stepped inside, surprised to find that many teachers have been tied up in the room! From their words, Max and Holly knew that the teacher in the classroom just now was just a robot clone (克隆) and she was not real Miss Carr, even the new headmaster! Max and Holly then succeeded in freeing all the teachers trapped. 

"We'll deal with those rotten robots!" said one of the teachers, as they ran out of the room. 

"How can I ever thank you, Max?" asked the real Miss Carr. 

"How about no homework for the rest of the school year."

Finally, Max and Holly realized that the school rules made by their real headmaster were so nice.

Nick can't find his watch. It's brown. The watch is from his uncle Tom. He calls his father at 879﹣0785. He says, "Dad, I can't find my watch. Do you know where it is? " Mr. Smith says, I don't. Is it on your desk? " "No, it's not on the desk. " says Nick. 

Nick calls his mother at 879﹣6804. He asks, "Mom, do you know where my watch is? " Mrs. Smith says, I think it's in your room. " But Nick's room isn't tidy. He doesn't want to look for it everywhere. Nick puts (放) down the telephone and sits on the sofa. Nick's brother says, I . . . "

Nick says,  "Rick, I'm busy（忙的）

"Yeah? Busy looking for your watch? It's on your wrist（手腕）, " says Rick. 

Our teacher asked us to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a form about our favourite books and why we like the books. As I finished it, my mind{#blank#}3{#/blank#} {#blank#}4{#/blank#} {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the stories from the books. I had read before. This form not only helped the teacher learn more about us, but also made me think of my reading journey. 

A long time ago, there was a big apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples and took a nap under the shadow. He loved the tree and the tree loved him, too.

 As time went by, the little boy grew up and he no longer played around the tree. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. The boy told his tree friend, "I want toys. I need money to buy them.""Sorry,I don't have money, but you can pick all my apples and 1 them. So, you will have money." The boy was so excited and picked all the apples and left happily. The boy never came back after that. The tree was 2 .

 One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited. "I need a(n)3 for my family. Can you help me?""You can cut my branches to build it." So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy, but the man never came to see the tree since then. The tree was4 again.

 One hot summer day, the man came and talked to the tree. "I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?" The tree answered, "Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy." So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and again never came back for a long time.

5 , the man returned after many years. "Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you anymore. The only thing left is my dying roots," the tree said with tears. "I do not need 6 now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years," the man replied. "Good! Old tree roots are the best place for a rest, come and 7 with me."

 This is a story of everyone. The tree is like our parents. When we were 8 , we loved to be with our mum and dad. When we grow up, we9 them, and only come to them when we are in trouble. You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that is how many of us treat our parents. We consider their love as a matter of course; we don't appreciate all they do for us until it's too 10 .
